Wow , dealers are practically giving them away.

Whats going on here? i've been mulling over getting rid of my 2006 vfr800 and getting the new dct vfr1200.

Been tracking the prices for a few months, and right now on cycle trader, 2 dealers have 2010's for $9,999 . i called to make sure they were not misprints and they were dct's and yes, its true.

Yet , still- how is everyone not going out and buying these things? the only thing preventing me from having one in my garage is the fact that im in st louis and these are on the east coast. This is the craziest price ive ever seen on these. Someone is going to get a good deal.

Any interest out there for an old man driven vfr800 with 12k miles?

I thought the same thing when I had my local honda dealer track down a new 07 RWB two years ago. They easily found one and I got it out the door several thousands below sticker. maybe the slow economy? Or what seems to be mixed feelings about the new 1200's. Of course, i just saw a dealer advertising a new Aprilia RSV4R in virginia for under 12,000. Maybe regional.

The dealer in Joplin MO has one advertised for that price as well. It's the good looking Red one, not a fan of the blue myself. I am just not sold on one yet. If I am going to buy one of those my wife will demand something she can ride.

Shoot, IMO they could knock another $5000 off and I still wouldn't be interested. They simply don't flip any of my switches.

i guess the economy is doing better in joplin now! i found one in st louis for 11k, i asked for a difference figure, and the quote was 9k. i said, wow 2k for mine? he said no , 5k. i asked how 11k minus 5k was 9k, and he said that hell check with his boss and call me back. never got a call back and they raised the price of thiers to 15k.

Yeah that's crazy, was just listed at 9,999. I kind of wonder if maybe it was a typo.

Yeah that kind of crap happens a lot out here where I live. Was looking for a car for the wife, the dealership was going to take her truck in for a trade, was giving us 3k for it, only knocked the price down 500 bucks, I had some choice words, we did not end up buying it. On the flip side, worked with a exceptional dealer about 30 minutes away. From the time we walked onto the lot till the deal was done, this guy was excellent to work with. Gave us a good trade and did the math correctly. I live in Chanute KS, the dealer here does not have any VFR's, aside from the turd 06 they got that they want almost 6k for, not worth the money, the previous owner/owners used and abused it. Was down there today actually asking if they had planned to get any new VFR's in, they said "no plans at all".

The Recommended retail price is $27,795 in Australia and my local shop is selling them $20,490 even though the US/AUS dollar exchange rate is about 1:1. No wonder so many people I know are importing their bikes at the moment.

Yeah, it kills me. - I would definitely have bought the DCT VF1200R if Honda Australia wasn't trying to charge sooooooo goddamn much for it. Even worse, the price of OEM Honda luggage is just fucking ridiculous!

I've never understood Honda's OEM luggage prices. On a 6th gen, the sidebags were what..$800 or so? The euqually good GIVI sidebags (with rack) were less than $500 if memory serves. Maybe the sleeker look is worth a 80% markup to some. Personally, I think the GIVI stuff is demonstrably better and more well designed. Dealer sales reps I know refer to it as the "Honda Tax".

Regarding the thread as a whole, this phenomenon has been in the works for awhile. Part of the reason I picked up my '09 brand new was the fact that it was cheaper ($10,000) than the super low miles '07 I was looking at. Truth is dealers just don't move VFRs that fast in some places, and it's a buyer's market for bikes these days.

I have no idea what the luggage costs there.

But its a damn shame for our Aussie folks that when I jokingly put a $3,000 price tag on it, we have to question if its serious.

A dealer in Vic had a demo bike for sale at 19,900 with the side hard bags and a few other honda accessories, l took it for a spin and was impressed with it , but just not enough to get me off the 800
