Hello everybody. I'm very new around here and first I tried to find some posts relating to my subj, but nobody seemed to share my problem. So i've decided to write this. I don't know if it is a 'real' problem, because I only have this bike (VFR800A VTEC '02) since oct. last year, and maybe i'm not entirely used with its behaviour.(although I've made over 3000km). Here is what happens: when accelerating, not brutal, around 4500-5000 rpm (1st/2nd/3rd gear, doesn't matter) after a smooth and constant acceleration, the engine seems to lose its power. Only in this region. When it gets over 5000 it delivers power as it is supposed to do, the sensation of traction is constant and increases, of course, over 7000rpm, when the valves open. The sound of the engine is ok. I don't hear any interruptions and I don't feel anything kicking or wrong inside. This 'loss of power' as I called it, really does not bother me very much, because i can easily accelerate further and sometimes I even can't notice it. Please, if someone has experienced something like this, and it's normal for this bike, tell me to relax. I'll just take it as it is. If not, then maybe I should visit a Honda service. Thank you.

All VTEC's has this 'flat' spot. This can be fix with a PCIII.

I was going to mention that I have read that others have noticed a similar flat spot in that RPM range. When I bought my 02 VFR I immediately installed a Power Commander III set up for the Two Brothers exhaust system that I installed at the same time and therefore never really experienced that " problem". If you are not particularly bothered by the " flat spot " go with it as a Power Commander and after market exhaust is an expensive fix.

Thank you. I'll probably leave it as it is for a while and I'll get some infos about PCIII.
