Ha! glad you got it! Is that the VFR rebuild bike of yours? The solo seat really completes the bike. Here's mine without the passenger pegs.

This reminds me of one lovely afternoon in 1991. I was riding my 3rd gen VFR on a highway in northern Ontario when something odd caught my eye in the ditch. It was bright red and had a familiar shape to it so I pulled over and walked back to check it out. It was a bright red solo seat cover for a 3rd gen just sitting in the grass. I stuffed it in my jacket and rode on. Can't remember what I did with it all these years later but what are the odds?

GREAT! Jethro's going to have me staring in ditches for the next 2 weeks now...

I bet all that factory match paint was a good chunk of the cost on rehabbing that bike.

The exhaust is "home made". 2 1/4 inch thin wall steel exhaust pipe cut/welded at home. I had to weld the connector to the headers from the stock exhaust on. then adapted to an Akrapovic can off my ZX7R. Put the Muzzy back on the ZX7R. Wanted to go a little tighter to the fairing but the aluminum hanger I machined was just a little mis-measured by a few centimeters, so I just went with it.

actually the paint wasnt bad..i went to my local BASF dealer with the honda paint codes and a body piece to match from..they mixed the paint and put it in a 12oz spray can for me..thats right..i did it with spray cans. I used a good quality plastic primer, base coat, candy coat and i used 2K clearcoat. I took the time to sand and prep it right..painted it..let it dry and finished it off with a good 3k grit wetsand and buffed it out with micropolish. all said and done less than a $150. hard to tell by the picture but she has a nice shine. two things..get enough coats of the candy on to give it depth..get enough coats of clearcoat on so you can wetsand it and polish without getting into the paint.

I may have to give the exhaust a try..im sure I can find someone local that can make me a pipe. great idea..thanks

Not bad. I ended up going thru colorite and did a rattle can paint match redo on my ZX7R. EXPENSIVE! I did use their chemical / activated clear coat that makes the finish super durable, harder to chip. I now have a compressor and can use real / catalyzed paint now.

The akra is still on the bike in this pic.

yes same here..i used the clearcoat with hardner..great stuff! definately go thru your local auto paint dealer next time..you save big time! they will mix what you need. everything about it is 10x better than rattle can paint you buy in stores..I too have a compressor and guns but I found doing it this way fast and easy..for this project. being one color helps a lot. you can buy aerosol cans now at the paint shops that have a jar that screws on the bottom of the aerosol part..you mix your paint and thinner then spray away..they are like $5..great for doing small jobs.
