    Hi,
I have a 2005 VFR that does not have any electrical problems (that I know of) and it has undergone the factory recall fix for the wiring harness problem on this model.
I am going to be installing a Garmin 660 in the near future and was thinking of adding a fuse block to power it and other potential add-ons. I was looking at the VFRness/fuse block bundle for this.
The question is, would the VFRness be unnessesary because of the recall fix or what are the benefits of installing it? Does this fall in the if it is not broken don't fix it catagory?

    Thanks,
    Jim

Check the VIN on the steering tube, if the recall repair's been done there should be a punch mark next to the VIN. Now, the recall repair corrects the overload issue with the main harness ground point by disconnecting and re-routing the front sub-harness ground through the RR ground and replaces the battery sub-harness with one built with heavier wiring. The VFRNess, built with heavy gauge wiring, plugs inline into the RR (Honda connector in VFRNess into RR). It provides an additional ground point to the frame, a better contact for the RR to gauge and adjust voltage and a dedicated contact from the RR to the battery. The recall repair does NOT address issues with the stator/RR which can (and in my case did) result in a Stator/RR burnout, something the VFRNess is built to help prevent.

    Thanks Cyborg!
This is exactly the kind of info I was looking for.
Sounds like the installation of the VFRness will be a good PM.

The VFRness came in the mail yesterday and I got it installed and tested along with an accesory fuse block in about 3hrs.
Really inpressed with the build quality and factory like look. The accesory block made the Garmin 660 harness instal a breeze.
All went really well until reinstalling the side fairing. It took multiple tries to get all of those extra connector blocks tucked in enough to mount the fairing.
It is still not quite right as the gap between the fairng and the frame is a 1/4 - 1/2 inch as opposed to the 1/8-3/16 gap it used to have. This bugs the crap outta me.
Does any one have pictures of the wire routing/connector tucking that may help me get this a little better sorted. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, no pics here (Wish I did now). The gaggle of connectors can be turned/moved to face towards the front of the bike, either adjacent to the ECM and outer fairing or sandwiched between the ECM and inner panel. I would suggest going with the inner option (as I have), the connector bundle is held still and with barely any inner panel bulge.

Agreed - the VFRness is top notch looking stuff, but it is a bit of a pain to find a nice place to tuck it away!

Here is a crappy picture of mine. I still need to do some creative tucking and ty-wrapping to avoid the same issue you are experiencing.
