Am interested in the OEM hard bags. Anyone within 200 miles of Durham, NC. I would like to see them in person and don't mind riding the distance to see. Pictures just doesn't do it. Or anyone with Givi V-35 bags. Just can't decide which I want.
    Thanks

I'm afraid I don't live anywhere near you (Ohio), although my brother lives in Raleigh. I can tell you I chose the V35 cases for two reasons...capacity and price. To me, the factory cases at 29l apiece just aren't big enough for two-up long distance without a top case, which I don't really like. The V35s are HUGE (35l apiece!), lightweight, and hold a ton. They're also half the price of factory. They aren't as slim or attractive as factory, and of course there's always the bracket issue, but I'm still glad I bought them. I can post up a bunch of pics of them later if you like from all different angles. They really only look awkward if you're standing directly behind the bike. From any other angle they look good.

Accessiories 4 bikes is asking $1,077 for the factory bags which have a nice look to them but they are one the smaller side of life. I've been on three four and five day trips using the Topbox and a backpack tied to the rear grab rail. I like the top box it's just so convenient to use. [IMG]

I am also very interested in the factory side bags. I currently have the top bag but hate the look. Size of the bags is not a major issue for me beacuse my girlfriend rides her own bike.
Anyone found the factory side bags for under 1400.00?

I purchased my bags from the UK as they are no longer made here. The VFR is one of the best selling bikes over there and has been made every year 09.. so honda UK makes these regularly.

Paid 1400.00 with shipping and they arrived in 4 days from order

Here is the website for them

I've had good luck with this site before "motorcycle goodies.com" I just took a look for ya, their price is $1,119 plus shipping. When I went through their menus I went to oem accessories, Honda, and the VFR1200 is classified as a sport bike.
They are based out of the south As I remember.

I would call them first as most of the places I checked state side that said they had them actually had to order them from Honda USA. Honda USA stopped making them several years ago as the bike was not selling as they had hoped. they all list them on their sites that you can buy them but if you go through with the order it will say its on back order. I would just check by calling them before you place your order.. it would be nice if they are available in the US again.

    wshski......
Not sure if you figured things out yet but I will provide this:

Just installed the Givi bags with Givi mounting and though it will work just fine, I sure wish I had seen the OEM bags in person.
Mostly because the gaps and how wide these bags look on the bike. I may have spent the extra $$ for a more integrated look.
I don't plan to use the bags for more than a few long trips a year and there is the advantage of using them on future bikes which helps me get over the non-integrated look.

You can't really lose either way, but given the chance to do it over again......

For me, the only real choice was Givi brackets or Motech brackets for the V35 cases. The 12 is a *2-up* tourer for me, and the oem cases would never haul enough for the wife and I out on the road for a week. Their (relatively) small capacity made them useless to me, and I told that to the Honda guy when I saw a 12 at the IMS show in Cleveland before the bike was released for sale. If I was touring solo, they'd be fine. But then again, if I was touring solo, I would have bought a VFR800 years ago. I really only dislike the view of the Givi cases and brackets from directly behind the bike. From any other angle I really like them, especially from the side. I love the shape of them and how they flow with the bike, especially compared to the oem cases. Those darn Italians can make almost anything look sexy. And as you said, they'll fit another bike later. The price didn't hurt my feelings either.

The Honda panniers are great if they hold what you want to carry. I figure if I go through the trouble of fitting panniers on a bike, they might as well be big enough to hold some serious load.

I went with the SW Motech rack for the quick release. With just the attachment hardpoints, most passerbys probably don't know they are there. I even bolt the license plate directly to the rear support bracket and got rid of the OEM license plate holder. I ride with just a Givi top case on SW Motech most of the time, and only throw the side racks and V35s on longer trips, or when I expect to carry cargo that day. I like the V35s from just about every angle, including directly from behind. The curved backsides of the V35s give them a "fitted" look.
