    Hey guys,

I just got some new fairings for my bike to replace the one that got broke from a golf ball hitting it. The problem I am looking at is removing the "VFR" decal from the panel. The rest of the bike has no decals so it will look stupid if just the one mid fairing says VFR. I have tried a small heat gun and some Goo-Gone to take off the residue and it seems to be working fine its just so slow it is going to take hours this way. Is there any quicker way to remove the decals from the fairing?

    Thanks

I actually like the look of it being de badged some. The VFR is such a classic I like it bare in white think the decals make it look like all these other newer sport bikes blah lol. Bike still has tank and belly decals on it the VFR 750 crap all over I just dont like the look of I guess. In pictures I think the decals look neat but PO of this bike had it debadged from dealer and in person it looks super clean.

I broke out my heat gun and they seem to be coming off nice and clean thanks guys!

You got it right. Careful use of heat gun and they come right off.

Ditch the heat gun. 750-1500 watts is too much heat locally applied to ABS plastic. Use a hair dryer. Peel up a small edge and apply heat to the bond. Work slowly. Any residual adhesive can be removed with paint thinner of the more expensive "mineral spirits" which BTW means, bend over the sawhorse dude we saw you coming. Barbeque starter fluid or lighter fluid or VM&P naptha or Stoddard solvent all work equally as well.

All are very close chemically. DO NOT use hot solvents like lacquer thinner, toluene, acetone or your SO's or even your own nail polish remover or you might be looking a a nice new paint job right skippy.

Don't know about GooGone. Never tried it. Like most proprietaries, ya really don't know whats in it and many times there are several products that
that use the name. Case in point, "Bondo."

Paints also fade. A red bike with the decal removed is going to show a silhouette of the decal.

If the "decal" is under the clearcoat you are SOL..

    Polish Hondas ? Nooooo.

Thanks guys. I have a low heat gun and it worked great with some goo gone. Got them off looks great again! I made sure to wash the panel afterwards to get any of the cleaners off. Thanks!
