I need to replace my stator and was wondering if I should go aftermarket or stay with OEM. Any feedback on aftermarket stators would be appreciated. Ricks Motorsports are about $145, OEM $200 shipped, with Electrosport being the least expensive around $125 and less. Any thoughts?

Yeh, dats wut me sez. Food fer thought, I had to replace mine 5 years ago er so. Ironically, my r/r lasted 20 years, (1991 model.) dont go with aftermarket for stator OEM is best. R/R on other hand, is better than the OEM trash that is out there now. Went with RICKS and am happy.

Love that Avitar you got Kenny! I grew up watching Sigmant and dah Sea-Monsters...

Short story is battery was 5 years old and died, so I bought a new one figuring it died a natural death . New battery and a few days later on a ride, I turned the bike off and it wouldn't restart, not good. I figured the rectifier was the problem based on history with that on the VFR, took some readings and they seemed to confirm it. Then swapped out a known good rectifier and got same readings as the old one. Took it in to get the bike checked more in depth and the result is the stator shorting out to ground.

Of course the dealer wants a lot to fix it, $550. I know I can get the part cheaper online and seems pretty straight forward to replace myself, so I'm just looking for the better choice, OEM or after market.

I went with OEM, $181 plus shipping, not a bad price.

OEM stator for sure, powersportsplus.com has them for under $160, mine is on order right now.

Mine cost a bit more, I see you have a 99 though.
