What are the best stock tires to run on a 86/87 700/750; currently running Bridgestone BT45's & have been satisfied with them aside from an occasional slip out under hard acceleration in the lower gears. But is there anything better in the stock sizes 110/90 16V front 130/80-18 rear? I need to get a new front prior to getting out this year & will need another new rear by mid summer.

    So far I've found:
    AVON - SuperVenoms
    Michelin - Macadam
    Pirelli - Sport Demon
    Metzler - ME330 & ME33
    Dunlop - GT501

Any others & what is better than the BT45?

I've put over 40k on my 86 750. Up until last year, I ran the Metzeler Comp K, and absolutely loved them. But then they were discontinued. I've since switched the the Pirelli Sport Demon. Very similiar to the Comp K, and still nice and sticky. So there's my recommendation.

I also am looking for something new to run on my '86. I don't like that the BT45 front goes away so early as in 3000 mi., then gets that uneasy greasy feeling as the tire starts feathering. The tires that were recommended to me to try, are the Metzler Lazertec. I'm buying a set in stock sizes while at Laguna this summer.

    new tires

I have the GT501F on the front and a K205 on the rear, both Dunlop. The GT gets a little gummy in the heat so I am also considering a new tire for the front, but as far as a great rear tire that lasts at least 10K miles, there really is none better for our bikes than the K205, unless you want to change wheels.....

Actually I had very good time on the BS bt45s but I did run the 140/70 on the rear.

That would be a little wider w/ a shorter side wall correct or am I thinking wrong?
