Maybe your friendly dealer told you that some of the mirrors were supposed to break off. The OEM mirrors on my mach 1 91 articulate and are made of half inch or so steel. Clutch and brake levers are widely discussed here and the Chinese made versions seem to be the ticket.

The rest about dropping? No data to support that. It would be interesting to see some.

Since the clutch lever broke I assume it fell on the left side. You may want to check the fan clearance from the radiator. I droped my '06 on the left side last Nov. at a walking speed. I fixed everything(so I thought) and rode it all winter. This spring the first hot enough day to kick on the fan, it cut a half circle into my radiator. Lucky that I was only 5 miles from home and I made it there before I lost too much coolant. I would not have thought that "minor" drop would have pushed the radiator in enough to bend the fan mounts. Do take the left fairing off, some of the fairing mounting brackets may need to be straightened also.

Thanks guys, I'll pull the fairing tonight and check it. I would have to agree that they are probably dropped more while parked/being moved than while riding. I say this just from my personal experiences and people I know, with no actual data to back it up. In other words, I might just be talking out of my ass.
