Potential Gen 6 noob here if all goes well tonight. My target is a '07 RWB "bookend" for my 1986 RWB VFR. It has ABS and factory bags with 15k on the clock and nary a scratch.
New tires just mounted but no valve inspection service (due soon). I am offering $1000 less than asking price because of this. Some clown sez he will offer $6800 for it to buyer but keeps flaking out and not showing up to see it, so ultimatums were given by me to the seller, if not today, forgetaboutit!

I have been patient, turned down several bike that had been dropped, and if it is meant to be it will happen. I still have my pristine '86 VFR and an asphalt eating ST1300A for the heavy lifting.

Someone tell me what I will expect from a 20 year gap/nap in VFR technology? More weigh, similar HP to weight ratio? Gotta be better handling with radial tires! My old VFR feels like a 10 speed when getting off my ST1300. I am not expecting too much out of the 2007, this way I will not be disappointed.... its just that all those Benjamin's have not been doing me any good recently, and a newer VFR sounded really sweet.

    Wish me luck.

    Good luck!

I've never owned a '87, nor do I own an '07, but I can't imagine the difference will be anything short of night and day. I think you'll love the bike, and you might even find the ST sits a little bit longer between each ride!

NOTHING TO SEE HERE. MOVE ALONG. NOTHING TO SEE...

For what its worth - even though I appreciate you negotiating with the seller - you probably don't "need" to have the valves checked at the 16K. Sure, its in the manual, but in my 4 or so years here, I don't recall anyone ever saying they were out of spec at 16K. Honestly.

Go get her, and come on back with some pictures of that sexy girl.

The things I know for sure on the 2007:
    Fuel injected
Radial Tires (120/70/17 Fr; 180/55/12 Rr)
    VTEC Motor
    Heavy(ier) (~550lbs)
    ABS (optional)
    Single sided swing arm
    Pro-Link Rear suspension

All that aside, it's the same bike as your 86 VFR by name only. IMHO, there are really too many differences to even compare the two. I can say that the 2009 I have is one of the best bikes I've ever owned and to this day, every time I step off the bike I always have a smile on my face! I do not think you would be disappointed in the 07 RWB.

    Cheers!

As a rider of both ancient and new technology, I'll second that. :thumb:

Sssshhhhhhh! Let's keep this on the down low...

They are asking too much anyway and I feel like lowering my offer by 3% because they are trying to do a Ebay off Craigslist. Lower it by $100 a day for each day you keep me hanging.

With the economy the way it is, there are still plenty of low mileage RWB '07s (007s?) to be had. I got a good deal on mine - under 1500 miles, under 5300, back in December. I ran across 4 other sellers within a few hundred miles who were upside down with their payments, and with the current bike market, the bikes are still for sale now, or withdrawn. The guy I bought mine from sold it for about what he paid - he paid cash, bought it from a distressed seller who also didn't have a loan. I knew what I wanted, and was patient and waited for the right deal, even though I had bike "fever". Good luck!

I happen to own an '86 750 in mint condition along with an '07 800 and the two bikes are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Last summer I did a lot of riding on both of them back to back. The 800 does EVERYTHING better. It got to a point that I didn't even want to get back on the 750. It looks good though!

It's mine and it is home, in my garage. Happy face! Only got to ride it in traffic, but I am liking it alot. I do not want to compare my 1986 just yet, but I do believe the 86 has a silky smooth clutch and transmission. The power band delivery is also very smooth and refined. The 800 seems more of a brute. Sort of like a pro soccer player vs a rugby player. Anyway, I have much to read and learn about my new baby. If you'd excuse me, we need to bond now.

    Congratulations!

I didn't really pay attention to your first post: You scored some hard bags too - that's a nice little bonus.

Now here's I'd spend your money the new ride.

Get an aftermarket seat, or have yours addressed by a custom guy to fit your ass. Stock seats suck.
Get some aftermarket cans. Plenty to choose from.
    Powder coat your wheels white.
    Put a tinted windscreen.

    Ride.

Nice find! Great looking bike and it pairs up nicely with your '86! I highly recommend the mirror extenders mod.

I want to add a Power Commander to Pliskin's list. It really is a must for this bike. I've done most of these updates as well as adding the Heli-Bars.

By the way, the bike looks great. So what did you end up getting it for?

I only ride my gen 2 to keep fresh gas in it. A far cry from the 07. (Gen 2 on the battery tender as I type)
