I love this mobile site! Problem- i dropped my cdi boxes in a bucket of radiator fluid. Yes i said boxes. Before this happened the motorcycle would start 70 30 fine with choke, idle low, warm up, idle at 1000 rpm +-100, then when thrown in first would stall without lots of throttle. After warm and running would stall at stops without throttle slighly open.
I couldn't find any info on water and its effect on cdi boxes. I think it would kill them but not certain. Any info appreciated.
Also i dont have a manual yet, and was wondering if anyone knew the numbers i need to test for on the cdi, and coils or any other necessary electrical components.

Many CDIs are potted in some impervious substance, so probably not a problem.

Ingition coils are usually just a few (3-5 ohms) resistance on the primary side and about 20K ohms on the high voltage side.

Thanks for the numbers. These boxes actually are hollow with a circuit board stuck in the middle. There are two vent like holes on the case on the same side. I was able to pour about an ounce and a half of water out of each. Well im gonna go whip out the multimeter.

Just pop the PCB out of the boxes, rinse it with distilled water, blow off the water, and let it dry completely before using it. You should be ok.
No numbers are needed to test the CDI boxes, just verify the timing marks are aligned for both idle timing and full timing.
If I am not mistaken the idle advance is 15 degrees and the full 37 @ 3400 rpm. A search in messages will give you the actual info.
