Ok I feel pretty stupid right now. I have a 84 750 interceptor and I would like to adjust the rear shock. The owners manual talks about a 4way adjustment and shows a dial under the seat at the rear of the tank. Looking at my bike I don't see the dial. Were there different versions ? Anyone have any experience ? Thanks

If I remember correctly? Remove the left side-cover & look thru there at the shock & you will see a thumb dial adjuster.

If you aren't in a hurry? I can take a pic tomorrow, & post it when I get home.

Thanks If that's not to much trouble. Maybe a picture would help. I have the drawing in the book but see nothing that looks like that on my bike.

Are you sure it's a stock shock? Most have been changed.

Here you go, BTW I was wrong!

Take the seat off & look Directly under the fuel tank hold down bolt.

Thanks Paul, I must have a non-stock shock. I took the shock off and I see no adjustment of any kind. This one is very soft and the bike bounces just like it is wore out. Tomorrow I'm picking up a used shock (cheep) then see how it rides. Thanks again for all the input.

Ok here is what I found . Picked up a used shock and see the preload selector on top. The OLD shock is the original the selector and the small gear behind it are missing. Also I believe all of the oil has leaked out but holds air pressure. (air over hydraulic shock) The NEW shock holds air and I can hear oil in the shock as I shake it. Getting new tires mounted this morning and then will give it a test ride but feel this used shock will solve the problem. Thanks again for the help. Till next time take care all

Original shocks were mediocre at best. Even though you have another one for now, you may want to start looking for better alternatives. Sometimes a Fox Twin Clicker pops up on ebay(best) and some just machine an extension block for other shock like a Honda 9xx or 600. Daugherty on this site makes those if you can't.

Thanks. This made a huge difference. I had started a thread asking about the forks and how hard it was to steer and heavy. Seems that all the time it was the rear shock and those symptoms are gone with the replacement shock. I will search for a aftermarket shock. I may not be able to sell this one it is way too much fun and brings back old memories. Take Care All.
