All last year I spent putting together a 90 VFR 750 that had been brutalized and torn apart. I got her up and running and in good form. But I wanted FI. So I sold it to fund a newer bike. I did the same thing with an 03 CBR 600F4i ealier this year in the hopes it would suit my needs. Ran great and looked awesome. But fit me poorly. Long trips (600 miles in 3 day) were aweful. Aching wrists and numb, cramping legs. Not at all the same experience of my "old" VFR. So I sold that too. And now I have picked up a 2002 VFR 800. Miles are good and I got a good deal on it. Has Leo Vance exhaust installed and looks georgous. I just got off the phone with the local Honda shop and checked for recalls and updates that needed to be done and they said the bike is up to date. As is my way I am now looking at the future. I've had good luck with Ebay levers so a set is one their way along with some keyblanks (I feel naked without 3 keys for each bike). And now I'm thinking "what else?" I have an offer for F4i forks that have been built up (My old VFR had F4 forks set up for my weight and they were awesome) if I want them. But so far I like the ride I'm getting. Also considering a PC3. Probably get a Puig Touring screen and have the seat rebuilt and custome cover made by a local guy who does great work. Looking at the PAIR and flapper mods look easy to do. The O2 sensor omit? I see some posts about it but haven't found a good explaination of how to do it. Any other screaming good Mods out there I should be aware of? I will have this bike apart in its component parts at sometime or another so I'm not afraid to dig in and do the serious stuff. My main goal of having an utterly reliable, fast, controlable and comfortable bike. And to everybody on the forum. Hello again.
How about SC.........(Super charger)? Is this mod sound good for you? Welcome to the madness, you might want to post some picture of your bike before peeps calling you a liar.
I think theyd be short, and you'd have to work out the linked brakes issue. Not something most people want to delve into. Nothing but positive reports that I have seen. Both good choices. Also consider Sargent and Corbin for the seat, and I am pretty happy with my recent windscreen from ebay. The ebay seller is suncity motor but the shield has no brand name that I know of. It is the stock cut and size, but in dark smoke which I like. No experience on this one. You chose wisely then, grasshoppa.
Get the sergeant seat...it's awesome. The PC3 is nice to have as well. I like that you can basically change your gas mileage to awesome with the right settings (although if you run across some hottie in a ferrari when using these settings, try not to race them...) and then back to race settings for when you get to the twisties... The Puig double bubble is amazing. I can get completely out of the wind in a mid tuck and when I'm not in a tuck it definitely helps me float on the wind and not put as much pressure on the wrists. I might suggest the Heli Bars, too. They are outstanding. Best money spent yet. I used to have cramping and numbness issues but with that little extra height and change of pitch, it's amazing and looks like stock...can go 1000 miles a day now... Looks like a nice bike you got there. I am sure you will be happy with it however it is...
Quick update. Took care of the PAIR valves, flapper and de-snorkled after work today. Will feel the results tomorrow on the way to work.
