I have been looking for a good faq, but the only ones I have found seem to me last updated in the late 90's.

Is there a good faq anywhere?

If not, should I start one?
Would anyone be interested in contributing?

What types of questions, or answers to questions, are you looking for? It seems to me the most assked are about oil, tires, and regulator/rectifiers. I am sure there are others, those are just off the top of my head.

Yeah I was gonna say talk about chain issues too, i.e. lube, adjusting, etc.

They should also be split up like 1gen, 2gen and so on that way you only have to search through stuff that goes with your bike.

The existing faqs would be a good place to start:
    http://www.one-ring.net/vfrfaq/
    http://www.ripaldi.com/sabmagfaq/sm-faq.htm

As I noted before, these faqs are not up to date, and have nothing on the 6th gen (sob).

You could do the faq as a wiki and give a few people editing powers. Alternately, how about starting a faq thread where people can put their questions (and hopefully answers) and then move q/a from there into the faq.

-An agreement on oil and tires? Good luck!

    - Linked brakes - whoe, havent I beat it to death? :spider:
(Oh - I know, I could start with a "simple" how it works thing.)

A lot of the same questions do come up over and over so a FAQ is not a bad idea. I think it would be cool if somehow the links on a subject could be pulled together on a page. Like - whadabout oil, and all the wonderfull prose that has been written here comes listed up.

Michael - I would be glad to help if there is something I can add with my pro-geek viewpoint.

A wikipedia is basically a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), but where users can contribute content to it dynamically. In other words, if there is a "wiki" topic about "best oil" and you want to add your $.02, you can update the wiki topic and add your information.

How is this different than the normal VFRworld forums? Well, it just makes stuff easier to find. Right now, if you want to learn about oil, you would have to search the forums and look through a LOT of posts to get your questions answered. In theory, if that same information was "summarized" in the wiki, then it would be easy to find. The wiki could also provide a link to relevant posts on the same subject in the VFRworld forums.

Here is the most "official" wiki out there:

Sounds good, after all we come here to exchange ideas and info. We all have our own pro's and con's on any related subject. Streamlining the search engine using wikipedia sounds too good. Does anyone know if any other sites uses a custom wikipedia?

Okay friends - ask and ye shall receive!

The VFRwiki is up! I am still working on integrating the colors and such, so you'll find some fonts difficult to read until I am able to clean things up. But, it's up and functional.

Obviously, there is no content yet. I created a list of potential "articles" to start with. If you click on any of them, you should be able to click on Edit and add content.

If you click on Help, there is information on how to add content to the wiki.

Any volunteers to try it out and add some FAQ information?

is there a link to the wiki from the main page? I was just looking for it and had to search forums for wiki to get this thread to see where the wiki is...
