I'm talking to a guy right now about a 97 with 7000 miles on the clock and full soft luggage. The price is right, the miles are fantastic, the bike is clean and it really looks good. I've owned an F2 as well as a Superhawk so I'm familiar with Honda's build quality but this would be my first VFR. My buddy owned a 98 and basically told me to buy it or else. I want to use it for my everyday bike but I also want to tour on it just a bit. We have a 3 to 4 day ride around the Rockies scheduled for later this month. Any hesitations about such a ride on this bike (assuming it's as mechanically clean as advertised and appears)?

    I appreciate any input.

So why haven't you bought it yet?

Sounds like the VFR is your perfect bike. It's in between the Superhawk and the F2 as far as power goes but you'll never tire of the V4 with it's gear driven cams. I ride my 1990 model every day and clock anywhere between 1500-2000 miles every month. It's a very reliable bike as is every Honda given the proper maintenance. Even then, they'll last forever..

Thanks for the info Evilcrayon. I just e-mailed him and told him I'd take it. $3200 seems like a fair deal for a 7000 mile pristine 97. I'm excited. This will be my first VFR but I've always wanted one. I'm looking forward to my first ride. I'll post pics when i get her home.

Holy crap. You'd never know by looking at it. That really gives me a good feeling about making the purchase. Beautiful motorcycle. That's one of the things I've noticed about these bikes. The owners seem to take exceptional care of them in general. I've looked at a few and none of them were beat or butchered. Dude, I'm getting excited to get my hands on this thing.

I bought my '97 four years ago with 3800 miles on it. Once I sorted the electrical stuff it has been trouble free since. I commute on it and also do multi day trips. I may have other bikes in the future, but i'll NEVER sell my '97.

My first was a 97. Got to say I loved it, hence why I still have it lol. I say go for it, the only problem I've ever had was the voltage regulator.

I've toured, commuted, and twistied my '97 for a year now. I would trust it to take me cross-country tomorrow. My kids have instructions to bury it with me. You'll be glad you bought it.

$3K for a mint 4th gen with only 7,000 miles?! Wow! Take it.

That's a great price for what many have said is the best generation VFR.

I had a 1st, and a 2nd gen and my 4th gen is like heaven. I love it.

    Buy that baby!!
