    Hey guys,

It appears that I cant run my bike at the moment as there is too much play in the ignition cylinder. While running the key can jiggle a few mil to the side and the bike shuts off.
Thats after you've had to jiggle it to get it to turn on too!

Im guessing its just the age of the bike as there is no evidence of anyone trying to bust my ignition and from what I can see / know (which aint too much!) I cant just adjust the play in an ignition unit.

Does anyone have any experience changing out the ignition set up for a new one?

Or do you know any fixes to remove the play?

    Cheers in advance guys,

If i recall correctly they use security bolts to mount the cylinder, i.e. break the heads off after installing the bolts, so you have to use a punch or dremel to cut a slot for a screwdriver to remove the ignition. The cheezy plastic electrical portion can then be separated from the mechanical (key) portion for inspection. It may be possible to repair the wallowed out plastic somehow if you are clever and good with plastic welding, etc. i just use regular bolts for reassembly to avoid the breakaways.

    Good to hear it.

It is fairly easy to adjust the tumblers in the lock cylinders in order to have one key work both locks. You only need one tumbler for a lock to function and the fuel tank cylinder is easy to access since you already have that key. It's a mess when you have to drill one out due to lack of a key.

I would just swap out switches, and deal with 2 keys. That's how I roll with my old CM250C. It'll probably be a pain to unbolt the ign. switch.

I wasnt aware you could easily change it so I can reset the fuel tank tumbler set up for the new key.... Any advice on how to do this?

If you can't readily remove the gas cap, then take bike to locksmith.
They can set the cap & seat locks to match the ignition, or the ignition to the old key.
