Does this mean the clutch needs to be bled? I just bough used w/ 3000 mi. on it. The level looks fine.

The bike will kill if the kickstand is down when you put the bike in gear.

Is your kickstand switch working properly?

Could be the clutch safety switch or the kickstand switch. Does the bike jump forward before it dies?? Also, does the bike die when you repeat the test with the bike on the centerstand or does the rear wheel progressively start spinning faster?

Those are good suggestions I'll check out. Come to think of it (and I'm embarassed to say it) I may have had stand down as I stopped to open garage door and then had stalls when I went to pull in. Duh!

I wouldn't even be embarrased if I was a newbie! I've been riding for 40 years but never have had one of these new fangled machines! My last was a '87 VFR I sold three years ago.
