Had to send my gauges out for mileage correction and thought it was time to do something with that drab looking flat black instrument bezel. I've noticed some pictures on this site where guys have a carbon fiber looking bezel (don't know if this was factory in later years, mine's an 03) and really liked the look. Went to the auto parts store on Saturday and picked up this carbon fiber like wrap. About $12 and 45 miniutes later, I was happy with the outcome. A nice, cheap dress up. Looks good!

What is it exactly? Just a 'carbon fiber' sheet that is a sticker on back?

It's almost like a fabric but smooth on the face, and of course, sticky on the back. The material has some elasticity and is very moldable (the more heat you put to it, the more moldable it gets). I stuck a test piece to a stock windscreen from my Katana, got it dirty, and cleaned it with Windex, held up great. Will try to post picture of the product. Newest 5-22-12 003.jpg

I was thinking of doing the bottom fairing piece that is already dull black on the 4th gen. Not sure if that stuff will hold up to the heat while in traffic?

I'd like to know how it works out too. Have you tried it on other pieces, like the side covers?

I have only done the instrument bezel, I don't know if it would hold up in areas exposed to high heat and road debris. It shows a sport bike on the package with the entire fairings covered (advertisers don't lie, do they?) but for the price, it might be worth a try. They do have different sizes too, I saw 24"x48" on the shelf for $19.
