Howdy, I just got a 07 VFR it is great for a guy who has always had a HD. I am looking forward to some long trips from Ca. to Portland Or. and Idaho. Just now I have to get my machine set for me and my bodies’ idiosyncrasies, injuries. I need the foot pegs lower and more forward if possible, broken knee. And bars up higher for amore uprights position, crushed vertebrates from a fall as a firefighter. I could save some time and bucks if someone could suggest the best way to adjust these things. Also I have read that the regulator has a history of going out. Is that mostly on the older VFR’s? Do most guys going on a long trip carry an extra or is there a modification? Thanks for answering the new guys.

Hello Charlie, I installed Gen Mar risers on my 07 VFR. These are very simple to install (10 mins) and make a big difference in comfort. They'll raise your bars about an inch or so. Doesn't sound like much but does make a difference. A lot people intstall Heli-bars, I have those on my Suzuki and should be standard equipment on most sportbikes IMO. As far as the pegs go "busylittleshop" sells some footpeg lowering adapters. Checkout the thread under Gen 6, Highwaystar has detailed info & some quality pics.

+1 on the Heli Bars and Busy Little Shop's peg lowering blocks. The Helis raise the bars and bring them back a good bit. I just put mine on last night and did a short ride this morning; I could tell the difference right away. The peg lowering blocks are a great quality, relatively inexpensive (about $90) fix to lower the pegs about 1 1/2 inches. You can't go much lower or more forward with the pegs because of how the shifter and brake levers are set up. I'm about 6'2" with a 33" inseam btw. I'm not sure how the ergos on your bike compare to my 2000 but I imagine not that much difference.

I carry a spare R/R going to Walmart much less long trips.. When they go, you stop. Best deal is to just replace the stocker you are running with one of the aftermarket fixers and stuff the stocker under your seat. Tons of info in archives..

What most of the folks here would really like to know is where you got that sudden increase in IQ that had you dump the Harley for a VFR?

I have an '08 VFR and installed Convertibars. They are pricey but with proper hydraulic lines, bars can be 3 to 3 1/2 inches higher. The bar angle can also be adjusted. For the pegs I bought 1" lower pegs from Knight Design Homepage. Both are quality products. I recently instaled 1" mirror extenders from burkhartcycle.com. The bars can hit the fairing but that only happens when I am parking.
