According to the info in the link I've posted below Logistrike the paint color code for the 1983 VF750F Red paint should be R-107C-U Candy Bourgogne Red.

Has anybody had any luck actually BUYING the appropriate paint for Candy Prominence Red in the US?? I've been trying to get some to paint up a few bits to match the bike. Dupont says that Honda did NOT release the formula for that paint! So I had a buddy at a body shop trying to scan it and mix some up, but no luck. It's a very oddball color and apparently hard to match/mix. So if somebody knows where I can get a formula for Candy Prominence Red (CPR?), I'd love to know what you've got.

    TIA.
    D Dave

colorrite has a matching color (at least thats what they say), for small scratches it will be ok,
but that color is a 3 stage flipflop color , silver base, then candy red , then the clear coat
the color is not only hard to formulate , its very hard to paint , too much base, too much candy , different spray technique will have a mismatch results .
you are better off buying the panel . (maybe cheaper as well)
the digital silver for the rest of the bike as well as the engine color i was able to spray with perfect match.

You're right...Color Rite does sell it. A pint of base coat and top coat are $125 EACH! I'm simply not going to spend that much to make my 'already-too-expensive' Corbin trunk match the bike. I'm going to go to one of the local paint shops and see if they can conjure up a reasonable match. Since it's going to be at the back of the bike, it won't be so obvious if it's not a perfect match. If I can't get a reasonable match for a reasonable price, then rattle can black it shall be.

Actually, I just received all my stuff from Corbin yesterday and I've decided to send the glove box back. In spite of them telling me on the phone that it is water tight, it clearly isn't, as there's a big gap where the hinge is. The door is also poorly made and doesn't fit the box well at all. And although it has a lock, it sure looks like a good tug would open it in a second. Frankly, I told them over the phone today that I can't believe they actually put their name on such a cheaply made piece AND charge $300 for it. It's definitely going back. I'm also pretty sure I'm going to have to send the seat back for some re-shaping front and rear. I just hope the wife and I can survive a 1200 mile trip on it next week.

Me too! I'd rather deal with them any day of the week. They make one for the ST1300. That's the price we pay for owning a bike that wasn't a hot seller
