Just got a 2003 and would like to get crash (or for me, when I drop it) sliders/protectors. I saw an item on the web by R&G; appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

People have been using the R&G sliders and reporting good things. There is another thread on this same thing: http://vfrworld.com/forums/modifications/6581-gen-6-r-g-crash-protectors.html

Here is an American company that sells the R&G sliders, so you can save some cash if you live in America. They cost about $200, which is expensive for sliders, but due to the positioning of the coolant bottle, you have to modify the bottle to run the left slider through. The R&G kit comes with the modified bottle.

    Cheers

I installed the R&G sliders last weekend. It is really straightforward, it just takes a bit of time to get the holes drilled (and dremeled) in the bodywork, because the spot for the holes is in the middle of the big crease immediately behind the airscoop.

They look good in place, and now I just don't want to have to use them!

I may have paid a lot for the ease of having a modified collant bottle supplied, but I didn't want to have to do that one on my own. the R&G bottle looks good the way they modified it.

I also installed the R&G handelbar ends (probably unecessary, but now it all matches!

I just ordered my set today. The guys at EMA are very nice and helpful. I got them to throw in free shipping when I ordered the sliders and bar ends together.

I'm not good with wrenches and stuff myself, so I'll have the shop install them. I'll post pictures when I get them done.

As long as you have a good shop to do the installation you won't be disappointed with the R&G sliders. It is good quality hardware. I particularly liked the bar ends, they were very well machined.

Sorry, I didn't bother to think to take the camera. I can take some shots of the finished product if that helps.
