Wow, still kicking is it. sure has an interesting sound, sorta like a small V8? read it's a spin off of the LS7 Two valve head ,direct injection, sounds primitive to me. I'd have to hear it in person, though still My hats off to anyone trying to do this in this market not to mention the lousy timing of it all. I'm with some here I'm all about American build, But whats it going to take? so far no one really has touched what the big 4 do. Not to mention a couple Italians. GL guys.

The first dude on the block with a V8 bike was Glenn Curtiss in 1907. 137mph and change and I have the Tshirt. Engine displacement was very close to the displacement of the Ford flathead V8 and the Chevvy "stovebolt" six.

I thought Mortadello was kind of like pepperoni.

Whoopsie on the Hoss/Hog thing. It all sort of runs together in a reintarnation.

Reintarnation: When you die and come back as a hillbilly or someone from Bakersfield.

I live in Birmingam and saw the Motus MST-R the other day. I was in downtown a couple blocks from their office and one of the prototypes passed me. I love the sound of my VFR but DAMN...that was the best sounding bike I have ever heard. Now I'm no harley guy but the sound of a pushrod engine is awesome. Great looking bike too!

Yep, that 8,000 rpm rev limit tells the tale . I think all these dudes did was weld two Moto-Guzzi engines together.

I missed the chance recently to see this machine 'in the flesh'... TS for me.
The limited videos give some pique to ones curiosity but not much more.
Read this whole thread hoping for further info on the Motus but found mostly cliches.

The promise of soul-stirring performance easily available with a twist at real-world RPM's is the main draw of a large displacement, under-tweaked powerplant provided overall weight can be kept reasonable.
If the bike couldn't be massaged into a winning race package is immaterial, IMO.

The concentration of The Big Four is on electronics no one asked for and there are already lots of two wheeled powerhouses capable of stunters' 100 mph wheelies...

    But honestly...

WHERE are the agile machines with reasonable ergos that have that no-muss, no-fuss immediate response AND the ability to go like stink when desired? (delete Guzzi, et al here)

The MOTUS seems like an an attempt to address this dearth, but in today's economic climate it would be surprising to see it fly.

If enough consumer interest in this more essential-ist genre develops
maybe the folks in Nippon will put down the race parts lists and video game parts catalogs for a moment!

Not to sound subjective but what we need to do is elect one of our experts here to go and sit on one, squeeze all the levers, push the buttons, find all the places on the bike that can be areas for adding farkles and holding thier mouth just right do the requisite vroom-vroom noises. Done right, who really needs to ride one?

I saw a guy with a 916 hanging on the wall of his Pool/snooker room, personally thought it a better piece of art than an expensive painting or statue but my missus thought it dum.

I am not surprised. The guy probably took the Duc in and they told him how much it was gonna be to get those desmo valves adjusted or he was taken by the the Guggenhiem thing.. or he just needed to cut his losses.

Let us know if the next time y'all play snooker if the guy has put up a HD on his wall. Hopefully the wall is not sheetrock.. ;)

Hey if its 530 pounds for that touring bike they got the VFR1200 beat even the 800 is more than that weight. I wonder if thats a "wet weight" or just the engine? If they put down those and there Real numbers that seems to me K1600 in line six competition. That's really light for a touring bike.

Apparently the Motus gets Ohlins Forks amongst other nice accessories.

Through connections that must remain confidential we look into the R&D department of another American made motorcycle.

If I could have any one bike within reason, the Motus would be it.

Wow, still kicking , good for them. Any one hear what the current sticker shoker will be yet? also cool to know they are getting them out to the public to get their hands on em. Whats interesting is what demographic model they may be using... going after the VFr1200 market share vs. BMWs,vs Ducati. vs. etc.... boy, unless they are really priced right, that's a hill that would be tough to hurdle. Still say my hats off to em, they must have some deep pockets behind em. I wouldn't turn down a chance to take one for a spin, whats to hurt right.

    http://www.cycleworld.com/2013/08/01/2014-motus-mst-and-mst-r-first-look-review-photos-pricing/

$31k base model or $37k for the R version.

IMO, they're going after the demographic that buys American muscle cars, even though an Evo would get around a track faster and cost less.
Or just someone who wants a top of the line sport tourer and is willing to pay extra for novelty (the novelty being an American motorcycle that isn't a Harley and lacks Buell's various shortcomings).

When they come to south Fl I'm going to take one for a ride. I hope someone in California gets to ride one and posts their impression of it.
