I feel like this is a dumb question, but...

Just got the bike and it came with a hepco-becker rack set (Part number: 650.158) that the previous owner hadn't installed. The tags, pictures, and literature (in German) say they're for a 94-97 VFR, but I can not get the right hand rack to clear the muffler. The bike has a yoshimura pipe mounted to the bottom of the passenger footpeg (stock location I believe), and the back of the rack hits the end of the muffler. All the bolt holes line up perfectly with their mount points, so I believe this is the "correct" rack.

Anyone know if this is installed correctly in the picture?
Does anyone have a hepco becker rack they've successfully installed on a fourth gen?
I've tried to move the muffler a little to make room, but it's pretty much locked into that position.
    Am I missing something here?

Please let me know if you have any tips, or a hepco becker rack installed.

    Thanks!

    A. Do you have the installation manual? It MIGHT show the secrets of the installation. OK, dumb question.

    B. IF all the mounts to the rack are loose, see how much play you have upwards. Now remove the muffler mount bolt and drop it down to clear. I would even help to have the luggage mounted and make sure there is no contact and some air gap. Now fab up a new bracket extension (some SS strap would work) and insert new bolt to clear top and bottom. Finally, tighten rack bolts, reinstall bodywork.

Good luck. I made my own with a set of Krausers from a BMW and had less trouble. Tucked the can behind the luggage about 1/4".

    Hi
I got same problem, i just lower the exhaust 3 cm, you have to make a small bracket with 3 cm spacing.
