Wow! I learned a bunch from that thread. :jaw: Ordering a Xena Lock - considering an alarm too. I'll make it a habit to lock the bike now - even on base. :attention:

    That was entertaining.....

Mostly because it pointed out that :

    1. Smart thieves rarely are caught unless they insist on pursuing it too long, although it is still a mystery why a smart person takes up that way of doing things

    2. It's hard to get rich stealing bikes.

Well, my 2000 is more than 10 years old. It's good to know it is not high on the desirable bike to steal list.

DaHose, our bikes may be 12 years old but I don't think they LOOK 12 years old. I don't know much about bikes and these thieves may not either so anything shiny could catch their eye.

Great news, VF owners have nuttin to fear !!

I remember being at a CCS race in Phoenix about 1995 where state police came into the paddock, checked vins and paperwork. Took 2 racers out in handcuffs and their bikes, and no one was surprized.

It was well known that several shops there were doing dodgy deals on stolen bikes and parts. Some got caught. No guy who lived in an apartment complex there could keep his bike for long.

tink, thanks for the excellent read. Just got through reading it. Also went on line for a Xena lock and lock/chain set. Been using kryptonites and had heard bout the bic pen thing. Anchoring to concrete base floor also thought about. Dig the pic of the bike in the room, nice and comfy/safe=good night sleep.
