not mechanically inclined, and this is my first attempt at any mod, so be nice :)

Just installed both the H4 low/hi beam and the H7 high-beam on my '08 VFR.
Purchased the kit from eBay and it has no obvious branding.
It uses stock wiring - no separate wiring harness.

    High-beam works fine.
Nothing out of low-beam, however my front turn signals are constantly on (not flashing).
Not sure if it that was the case before the HID kit.
Turning on high-beam still shows nothing in the low-beam set.
Not possible to have crossed wires between turn signal and low-beam - the connectors are totally different.

It is possible I have the polarity wrong on the low-beam connection to the stock wire connector.
It is a separate positive and negative lead that plug into the stock connector.

Silly question: negative goes to negative and positive to positive, right?

I pulled it apart and re-connected to make sure all was correct and firmly connected.
Battery is pretty new - and the hi-beam works fine.
Tried disconnecting hi-beam connectors in case it was too much draw on power, but to no effect.

    Any ideas?

    Hmmm......

For the most part the HID kits I've seen that are available out there are pretty much plug-and-play. Really kinda hard to screw them up.
Without knowing what brand HID kit you purchased or exactly how the wiring is connected, and you admittedly not being electrical savvy,it's gonna be mighty hard to diagnose your electrical problem Bd47.

Keep in mind that just because a part is brand new does not necessarily guarantee that it actually works properly.

Does your HID kit have two separate ballasts for the high and low beam lights? If so are those ballasts exactly the same? If so try swapping the ballasts, maybe you've got a faulty ballast.

Does your HID kit have two separate wire harnesses for the high and low beam lights? If so are the wire harnesses exactly the same? If so try swapping them, maybe the low beam wire harness is faulty.

If swapping the wire harnesses around now makes your low beams work but the high beams don't,then do both of the wire harnesses have a fuse and a relay in them? If so are they exactly the same? If so try swapping the fuses first and check to see if all your lights now work,if not then try swapping the relays and recheck your lights.
Maybe the wire harnesses themselves are good but you could have a bad fuse or a faulty relay.

That's all I've got. Good Luck.

It sounds like the low beams are searching for a ground, with the turn signal lights on all the time I would say they are trying to ground thru that circut. Ck the connectors again and make sure you didnt pull a wire out the back end of one. Hope it helps.

Shouldn't the front turn signals be on (unblinking) all the time on US bikes as running lights?
Could be a problem with the low-beam's ballast. Put the stock bulb back in, see if it works. If not, the problem exists with the HID kit, not the bike itself.
