Rear Rack for Topcase ? What have you guys used on your 1200 ? Dislikes ? Gripes ? Problems ? I am looking at getting either the SW Motech with Givi attachment or Givi Rack. Since I have other bikes in my garage and have Givi Monokey bags already I probably won't be going to the OE Honda route. Thanks.
I chose the Givi over the SW-Motech because the passenger handles are very nice and I'd read that the SW-Motech causes the topcase to sit too far forward and cause passenger discomfort. The Givi rack seems very sturdy and well made. After the initial installation, it takes less than 5 minutes to take it off or put it on. Just remove the seat, remove the passenger hand holds and put the Givi rack on in their place... 6 easy to access bolts. My wife likes the Givi passenger handholds and where the Givi rack puts the topbox. She leans back slightly to use it as a backrest. Or sits normally and doesn't touch it. She said the topbox doesn't need a cushion to use it as a backrest. YMMV My only complaint with the Givi rack is the rack looks a little goofy without a box on it. It sits up kind of high. It isn't horrible, but, the bike obviously doesn't look as sleek with it on. It isn't a big deal because I only plan to use the rack on trips. If I didn't have passenger considerations, I would've bought the SW-Motech because it looks sleeker without a topbox in place... at least in the pictures.
Ahh... I didn't even notice until now (just looked at the Twisted Throttle page for install instructions) that it has passenger hand holds...
I went with the OEM why because it was on sale and I like the idea of only needing one key easy install works well as a passenger backrest, looks good and holds enough for me.
