I have a VF1000R "parts bike" I picked up for cheap. It is the standard fare for bikes this age. The kid dropped it a few times in the driveway and the plastic/fiberglass is junked. I took all the fiddly bits off of it that I needed for my VF1000R. Now I have a low mileage VF1000R sitting in my garage. The engine is fine. The tranny is good. Do I throw it away? It isn't worth much to anyone except another V4 Geek.

What if I mounted a single sided swingarm to it? Upgraded the front forks? Could some crazy 4 into 4 exhaust be added? I could play with the sprokets and make it run like a HyperMotard. It would go like hell around town but be useless on the highway. I'm not taking it on the highway anyhow!

So! IF I decided to attempt this stunt what parts should I snag off of eBay? VFR800? (Non ABS obviously.) I figure its suspension is approx rated for the weight of the VF1000R.

    Something along these lines:

If you do the SSS, you'll need the later 3rd gen or 4th gen swingarm. The 5th-6th swingarm mounts are too wide for the 1KR. The 800 suspension is barely rated for the 800, the R is 100lbs more. You'll need something heavier duty. USD fork conversions have been done but you'd be better off going with something like VTR forks/wheel, I think they're 41mm and should bolt in to the stock triples.

Aftermarket exhausts are rarer than rocking horse poop, you'll have to custom fab something.

So, does it run, etc, etc? Post a pic, someone may want another project, like mounting cbr600rr fairing s and calling it a VF1000RR, or something equlally fun. Rideable?

    Where are you?

The consensus majority on this site don't appreciate streetfighters, naked, or stunt bikes so you'd probably get better feedback elsewhere...
