Leaving work tonight at 230am...fucking 13.hour shift - but thats besides the point lol - I was riding up to the gate to leave after giving my co-worker a quick little revvvv when he waved to me...then 10 seconds later the bike dies and all im left with is the oil light. So I turn the key and kill switch off - reset - start her up and shes like normal again. Had my co-worker bust out his flashlight to check what the oil level read as I sat on the bike and it was normal. The bike doesnt leak or burn oil at all - and I changed the oil some days after I got the bike, which had to have been a couple months - give or take. Anyway, after that I got home fine and nothing out of the ordinary happened - everything ran as usual - temp was ok and everything felt as it usually does. Could it have been just a little glitch?? I plan on changing the oil this week since I have 5 or so days off - just got no time recently to do anything to my bike besides ride it to work cause i been working at least 10 hour days - freaking canadian company manulife got like 800 people at the hotel I work at and I been pouring massive amounts of booze for them! Those guys are outta control! lol

    Probably a Gremlin.

But a friend back in London was plagued with the same sort of thing on his Suzuki GSX. Eventually we traced the cause to his immobiliser. We realised the problem only happened when he was parked or stopped the bike near cell phone towers/transmitters - at which point the receiver in his Datatool 4 Alarm system mistook the high ambient RF signals, and assuming someone was attempting to use some sort of rolling code breaking programme, went into defensive mode - killing the engine electrics. This was confirmed when we spotted the immobiliser light was flashing and preventing a restart. Fortunately the bike fired up perfectly once we pushed the bike behind a nearby building where I guess the false signals were blocked - and a few days later he had a different immobiliser fitted.

I don't even know if our 5th Gen has a device like that. It may be an R/R problem.

Hmm well I was coming up to one of those gates where I have to wave my card out in front of it in order to open it..Also, I dont know if this is a valid theory, but I feel like revving it up when my friend waved bye to me might have had something to do with it. The bike had only been on for a minute or two - after sitting in the lot for a 13 hour shift. Has not happened to me since that night and everything is normal now. But then again I know nothing about how this stuff works so my theory is probably completely shot.
