I've had this 2003 for about 5 years now. I've sent every other bike I owned down the road. At one time I had an 03' FZ1, an 08'CBR1000 and an ST1300 as well as this bike, all at the same time. As my bike fever wore thin, I sent three of those four to new homes.
My intention was to send this one packing as well but somehow couldn't imagine myself after 37 years without a scoot. So here I am in my little love affair with this bike that I may never cut loose and then...... I had an epiphany. I thought, self?, what can I do to make the perfect just a little bit better? I could put a pipe on it but who cares? It has the perfect amount of power for my meandering intentions, so why bother? Then it occurred to me.......that front end is a little sloppy for technical work and it could stand more than a little stiffening and damping work. So my question to you gentlemen is, who? Or more accurately, whom? I figure if I can get the whole mess valved and damped correctly, all I'd need is a a proper Penske or Ohlins under the seat and I'd then have the scoot to carry me into the sunset. So how bout' it guys? Offer up some suggestions for the number one contender to make this thing turn on a dime without having to bolt a full set of racing forks on and keeping me under the $1000.00 dollar mark. I want to spend less than two grand on the front and rear to put it on rails....any suggestions?????????????

Badbilly is right. I just got my bike back with full Race Tech in the front and it is absolutely amazing. I have about $550 in parts and labor from 35 Motorsports | Motorcycle engine and suspension service, supersport & superstock engine builds. He gives me a little bit of a discount because of all the stuff I've had him do for me over the years. I've known the guy personally for years and he does absolutely amazing work. He is one of a very very select few that I will even let look at my bike with a wrench in his hand. He's raced WERA and worked on bikes professionally for more than 20 years and currently teaches at the Kevin Schwantz riding school. Wrestla can vouce for Reuben as well. Give him a call.

The Race Tech site has a map of places that can install and set up thier suspension packages. Pay particular attention to the mods that need to be done on the forks with gold valving. Not to be done in a chicken coop.

Excellent! Thanks guys. I'm moving to Missouri this month so once I land there, I'll see if I can't either find someone locally to do the work or rip em off the bike and send them straight to Race Tech. Thanks again!! I'll keep you guys apprised.

    Jamie Daugherty Motorsports!!!

btw, this is my first post here. I normally just lurk but felt I should chime in.
For my forks, Jamie hooked me up with his linear rate 0.95kg/mm springs, billet compression valves, compression and rebound shim stacks tailored to my new springs and oil weight. (Honda Pro 5 wt) Cost me $270 plus some shipping and I did the install myself.
In the rear Jamie supplied a "donor" cbr929 shock that he rebuilt and installed his street level valving and spring for my weight, as well as modified to fit the viffer.
Cost me $385. All in all, the best money I could spend on the bike. TOTALLY transformed the bikes handling!!! Gone is the harshness up front from cranking the preload in order to attempt proper sag settings, and the valving is spot on!! Supple over small bumps and cracks but firm and confident in corners, braking and shifting.
The rear shock feels PLANTED! Same valving character as the forks and the sag was perfect out of the box, with the preload adjustment on the first setting!!!
Im EXTREMELY satisfied! If your not comfy with DIY, send the forks to Jamie and let him work his magic. Ask him about options for you shock as well for your 6th gen, you wont be disappointed!

I suggest checking around your local race track and see who services your local area. There is bound to be a guy with competitive pricing who will give you one on one attention to make your bike do exactly what you want.
