Just picked up a 1997 VFR w/ ~4300 miles and rode it home this weekend. It's definitely been down sometime in the past (right break leaver and passenger footpeg are ground down) but I'm not sure how hard. I noticed the bars and triple tree are turned about 5 degrees to the right to make the bike ride straight on the highway. When I parked it on the center stand, sure enough, with the bars straight by eye, the front wheel is turned slightly to the left, just enough to notice the misalignment.

Should I be concerned about this? I'm thinking either the forks are twisted in the triple tree clamps or they are bent. With such a small amount of twist, I'm not sure it's going to make a difference though. Thoughts on this?

I was hoping it would be that easy. Any way to tell if the fork tubes are bent without taking them off the bike?

    not that I know of.

just don't drop the bike by loosening all the clamps without the bike being blocked up. in absence of means to block up the bike; loosen the lower clamp and tweak the bars until it's straight. Then tighten the clamp.

You will have to pull the tubes to see if they are bent, that is the only way to truly know like tink says. If you loosen and then tighten like tink says if the forks compress completely and go back without binding odds are they are not bent.

Hi Guys, I dropped my bike a few weeks ago and had to replace forks (done). Just checked alignment and it looks like that I have the same probelm as 'Tosto'. How would I re-align the yoke - Top and bottom? Can I just loosen the nut at the top and take the top yoke off then loosen the lock nut under the top yoke to loosen the bottom yoke? Then re-align the bottom yoke back to its original position?

    Help!

    Thanks TT
