+1 on the first gear Ht pants.
I never use the liners wearing over jeans or shorts. No waterleak issues either.
When it gets really hot I unzip the full length zippers a few inches for airflow.

Has full length zippers so you don't have to take your shoes/boots off. Removable rain/wind liner. Mesh outter to allow for great airflow. CE armor in the needs and hips which are removable. Adjustable waist. Zippered pockets.

Been using these pants for almost 5 years. Have held up great. Used them in 30F deg weather, up to almost 100F deg. Great pants!

european gear & top stuff - would only buy this or Heine Gerike or Frank Thomas or Tiger Angel (australian) - saw the Joe rocket stuff, tried it, too thin for me

Rukka has a strongly seemed Goretex lining, mainly Cordura outers (there are some garments that use other outer membranes I think)

Mine have not failed me in 6 years (zips, seams & water proofing). I ride daily & do a 150k (90 mile) round trip each day commuting to work on a range of bikes - faired & unfaired.

to look at some Rukka products the Australian distributor is Innotesco

Since you're in SoCal, I HIGHLY recommend Motoport. They make the gear for the CHP motor units, and while it's not cheap, it's Amazingly well made.
They will custom fit you if you make the trip down (I think San Clemente).

I have the Air Mesh pant:
Air Mesh Kevlar Pant | Kevlar Pants | Motoport | 102.500
They flow well. Photo of me rocking them on my NEWtoME VFR800

I previously had the Olympia Airglide II. They flowed extremely well, but did not hold up well in a low-side. Zippers Failed, Waist Failed, Burned through. They saved my hide, relative to had I been wearing jeans/dickies, etc, but the experience convinced me to upgrade.

I bought a pair of Tour Master Venture Air pants last year. So far I like 'em. They are mesh pants with armor and liners. Comes with two liners; a water and wind 'resistant' liner and a quilted thermal liner. I tend to pack and wear the wind/water liner a lot and only zip in the thermal liner when it is quite cool. The thermal liners are oddly short and end above my boot. But they help provide extra warmth on those very chilly mornings.

I have not rain tested them yet.

The armor is reasonably substantial. The pants *feel* safe, as safe as vented or mesh textile pants are going to feel. I have not crash tested them.

I have this nasty habit of dropping to my knees (go ahead, quote it!) and kneeling a lot in the pants while checking tire pressures, etc. I have already started to chew up the heavy solid panels on the knees. But the knee pads are nice.

I wear them over jeans and they flow pretty good air until temps get over the high 90's. I am tempted to try shorts under them later this summer, but am hesitant because they are mesh.

I originally ordered some Olympia AirGlide pants after a very strong recommendation from a rider I know that has taste. They were nice, but the fit was horrible. I'm a little wider and shorter than average. The Olympias come cut long with the idea that shorter riders could hem them. They were definitely long on me. But worse, the knee pad pockets ended below my knees. I could not get the pads to stay on my knees. I returned them for the Tour Masters.

I also considered the First Gear HTs and the Tour Master Caliber pants.

I was very pro Joe Rocket. Then I had a lightly used, barely 2 year old textile jacket from them fail in multiple places (seam failed, 2 zippers failed). They would not repair or warranty in anyway. So my opinion of JR has dropped substantially.

I now have a closet full of Tour Master or Cortech gear. I think it is damned good stuff for the money.

I have bought the Icon Hooligan mesh pants, They are nice but they kinda look like snowmobile pants. They dont have a removable liner, which would have been nice.

Sorry for contributing to bumpage of an ancient thread. I saw something I figured I could positively contribute to and go so excited I momentarily lost control.

That said... The Venture pants I have are like snow pants too. So were the Olympias. I think all overpants are going to have that feel, just the way it works.

Ventures have 3/4 length zippers on both legs. I was warned that this is a deal breaker and to keep shopping for something with full zippers. In reality it isn't that bad. I can get them on and off over my work boots without looking like a total buffoon... only half a buffoon.
