I have covered some serious miles this summer!! I have been to many places on my VFR and she hasn't missed a beat.

Me and Sarah covered just short of 2000 miles in 7 days, primarily touring around the western highlands and The Isle of Mull.

Scotland offers, by far, some of the best biking roads I have ever been on and with surprisingly little traffic, it made for some great riding

I won't rant on too much, nor show too many mug shots, it's always difficult trying to pick photo's for this sort of thing, but I have included most of the ones with my 5th gen indulging in the lush scenery.

I'll start with a video of the Isle of Mull, I didn't expect such stunning scenery as we toured right round the Island. Most of the roads were single track and full of gravel and pot holes so we just admired the view at a sedate pace.

    This is Part 1

We stayed about half hour south west of Oban right on the Atlantic coast, the road down to the village is both technical and demanding, but by the end of the week I almost knew it with my eyes shut... almost...

On this stretch of road we met a German couple who were touring the whole of the UK from Lands End up through Wales, Yorkshire, Lake District and into Scotland. Basically doing what we have done the past 3 years in a month! I loved swapping stories and chatting, much more hospitable than some of us Brits let me tell you!!

The Charming Town of Oban made for a great hub for beginning our daily adventures...

Ok now time to head home, set the sat nav for the heart of the sun (sorry Pink Floyd pun there) - 460 mile ride home...

The wife and I just got back from the UK. I can remember thinking soon as we left the Metro London area on the coach, "This should be done on the bike" I have to say, I think that the two weeks we spent over in Britain, Scotland, Wales and Ireland has so far probably been the best vacation I have taken in my 56 years on this planet. The only down side to this trip was the riots that took place while we were there. But we missed them by a couple days coming and going from London.

Did you sample some fine Oban while you were in Oban?

Thanks for your reply and yes we certainly did! I have only been on biking holidays in the UK so far and Scotland quite literally tops the places I have visited from Cornwall right through Yorkshire, Wales and the Lakes :)

My wife is from Scotland, just outside Glasgow, and with me being an Englishman, she routinely reminds me that the best thing from England is the road to Scotland. I haven't ridden in Britain for over 40 years, but am planning an extensive tour when I retire. Great pics, thanks.

Looks like a great road trip. Those views remind me of when I backpacked through Ireland in my youth. England must be such a conveniant base which to head out on bike trips...ferries to Scotland & Ireland, not to mention France - which not only has great roads and scenery for motorcycling, but from which one can of course access the rest of Europe.
