Hey all, wondering if anyone out there can help me out. I need the instructions to install the rear rack on our bike. Not the instuctions for the top box, but for the rack to the bike. I have two copies of the instructions for the top box, but none for the actuall rack. Dealer doesn't have one in stock, so no extra instructions. Called Honda corporate, they don't have them handy. Would like to install tonight or tommorrow for a trip I am taking early Friday morning. Fax number at work is 925-520-6227, no cover page needed, comes right to me. Please send at highest resolution possible so that it is as readable as possible -- most fax machines allow you to adjust the resolution if desired. Thanks a lot.

And is it just me, or is mounting the Honda saddlebags just a HUGE PITA? And really it doesn't have to be. Really really dissapointed in Honda on that design, it is like I bought a Ural or a Royal Enfield, not a product from a company regarded for its engineering proweress. Should have bought the darn Givis instead.

I have a set of instructions for the rack and plate. I really have to warn you though, they are the worst set of instructions I have ever received. I'll bring them into the office tomorrow to scan and send them to you.

The problem is that using tiny illustrations they try to be multilingual, so the english text is tiny, the drawing is tiny, and then the instructions are repeated in MANY languages. I ended up figuring it out with little reference to the instructions.

That would be great, thank you. I'll have to do the install tonight, to be ready to go tomorrow, but at least that way I could take a quick look and see if I really screwed anything up badly -- before I go. Or if I can't figure it out, I'll have to wait and do it right before I leave. From what I have seen at this point, I just need to really figure out the spacers and where they go, and the rubber pads, and which size bolts I need. No local dealer had one in stock for me to copy the directions.

Be sure that you have the correct hardware to mount the plate. I bought the trunk and bracket and was sent the wrong bolts. I spent a couple of hours trying till I figured they sent the wrong stuff. I have to commend Honda though. I called Honda Corp on a Friday evening at about 7 pm eastern time, and they overnighted the correct parts with a sat morning delivery to Atlanta, Ga.

Yeah, I called Honda corp yesterday, they did not have a copy of the instructions to copy and or fax me. Heck, they should have them all in an Adobe file, I would even say posted to their website. You go to MV Agusta's website and you can pull up full schematics and part numbers.

Thought of something, if anyone has any fairly close up pics of their mount, well, mounted for lack of a better word, I might be able to make something out of that.

Thanks all I am all set. Everything did go together exactly how I had thought, but it is always nice to have the directions to be sure, and to have the recommended torque values. I did tear one of those little rubber thingies though.
Still really unhappy with how Honda designed and built the saddle bag mounts though. Just so poorly done. And I don't know about everyone else, but as deliverd all three mounting points did not line up, or at least not all at the same time, which is what you want.

Do you have the rear rack (not the side mount brackets, but the whole rack with the grey plastic panel?

    Honda Canada

try looking this adddress over and see what you are missing, cause with everything properly installed it is easy to snap the topbox off and on using the red metal push button and the key.

I will have to look for the scan of the install instructions I did last year. The rack came with a "booklet" of multi lingual no text instructions. However I did get it installed and working, so they weren't that bad!

The pieces all layer one on the next, using grommets and metal sleeve spacers. It may be a stupid question, but did you try clicking the topbox onto the grey plastic tray off the bike? Does it connect? There is a lot of extra hardware in the box that came with the topbox, and you need to be sure you are using the right lengths etc.

But to repeat myself, once it is set up properly the topbox clicks on easily and takes no fuss.
