Well you can see where this is heading from the title!
I am trying to start a refurb business for Modern Classic Japanese motorcycles, and bought 4 VF750F bikes along with 2 CBX750's.
I have one VF running = needs exhaust sorting - blowing at joint from header to silencers. Another ran but sounded a bit like it needed valve clearances checkin - ticking a bit. Anyways next time I tried to start this bike it sounded like the front cam chain has jumped on the sprocket! I am now trying to decide is it worth fixing or should I break it for spares?

I have just looked on CMSNL website and found that the CCT has been superceded,
    part no.14510MB0000
    (14510-MB0-874) BRKT COMP,TENSION
Note: this part is superseded by 14510MB0874

Does anyone know if this is the only update? Cheers, Vin.

OH, Vinny, buying a track suit and the latest trainers for your old granny won't get her running faster. Why sink your quid into the history of 30 year old antiquated technology ? Move on, move up.

Well, I dont have money to burn, but was kinda hoping to do it myself and keep the cost down that way, but I am getting the idea that you guys don't think its worth the investment of time and money?

From a UK/Ireland perpective, I personally don't think it is a good investment to put money into VFs or CBXs. They were both decent enough bikes in their day but neither was popular in Britain ( I was living there then). The VF had and still has a terrible reputation with the general biking public due to the chocolate camshaft saga. Neither bike will ever be categorised as a classic IMO, so the market for even decent condition examples is pretty limited. Have a look at the prices they go for on Ebay. They are just not popular. Me, personally I like them both but I'm weird. VF ownership is not for the faint hearted. Later VFR models are a much better bet as these do command decent prices and are much more highly regarded by the normals out there.

Thanks for the reply jeremy. I know what you mean, I have seen some CBXs go for a reasonable price - but also seen some go for very little. I guess it all depends on if you get two interested people who see your auction.
As for the VFs - I have not seen many making good money - so I may well have to break them. I really dont want to - because I do think they are nice bikes - but it has to appeal to someone else !
