hi guys im new to the forum but ive been looking up alot of stuff on here and ive looked at a couple vfrs that were in alright conditon but price was to high and i looked at this one awhile bike but it has 117k miles so i didnt buy it at first he wanted 1900 and i talked him down to 1600 about a month ago and i recently contacted him and he will take 1300 cash today i already test drove the bike and everything seems to be good he redid most of the bike himself just the mileage is a lil scray even though i kno these bikes go up this high also i am a hard rider so i wont be babying the bike. He replaced the starter, gaskets, new tires, all fluids, battery, new lights and its a custom tail section nd custom exhaust sounds really good. please let me know cause i am going to be going out there today to look at it again and make a decison. thanks for the help i also carfaxed it and everything is good on it.

Try and git it 4 a 1000 clams...it has a tough look to it (even though I am not big on not re-placing what breaks after a crash...ie Neked Bikes) unless they were born like that way. Even then, its still nice to have some aero-dynamics to hide behind. ; )

Test the battery at the terminals when you buy it, Take your voltmeter with you...Rev to 4000 rpm or so and it should be charging at 14.00 er sooo....anywhooo...gud luck. Riding is riding, there is an arse for every seat.

agree. $1000 sounds fair for a bike missing that much fairing with those miles. Unless you are just totally in love. Then if you feel it's worth it, go for it. If you are not completely sold, though, you will keep second guessing yourself til you feel sick. At least I always do.

With good OEM plastics, $1500 - $2000 would be about right for a 3/4 gen. bike with 117k miles.

With good non-oem plastics, I would think that $1500 would be about right. Non-oem plastics will be at least $500.

I am on board with pushing for $1000.

Thinking $1000 tops, miles are no issue but to take on some problem with crash damage is.

Custom tail section ?? Don't think so, looks stock but sprayed black with orangepeel and drips and looks too "urban gangsta bike-wrecker cuz he can't ride style" to me.

If you want the plastic cuz the bike looks awful as-is it's gonna cost $$$ more, so maybe keep looking for a better prospect with decent plastic that hadn't been CRASHED!!

Find out if he replaced the forks or front wheel, cuz dat bitch been down haaad !

Next you gotta start worrryin that after you buy all the nice plastic, that high mileage motor just might be comin up on a rebuild, and that's gonna cost what ??

So you need a proppa compression test to prove the engine isn't woe out awready b4 you buy. She's gotta suck and blow to be a good one, eh ?? So you shouldn't assume the engine is good and test at least about 150 psi in each cylinder.

I'd say.......... don't ride away on this one, run away !

Don't waste your money on that thing. Spend 3k and get a nice used 800 with fuel injection that hasn't been crashed and goes like a bat out of hell. 5th gen is the way to go!

Jethro is right. Walk away from that bike as fast as possible, no . . . run away as fast as possible!
