    Ok folks,
Pulled the air filter out to replace and didn't pay attention to the bracket that holds it in place. Any thoughts on how the bracket fits into the housing??

After two beers and wife holding the gas tank up, I gave up!

Here you go. In the picture from my bike, notice the clip that is at the front of the air filter. I've also included the picture from the shop manual. Good luck!

No problem. I'm glad you got it resolved. So what are the details with your bike? Mileage, condition and how about some pictures? You don't see many R's out there.

I'll take some pics and post tomorrow! In college I had two 1986 vf500f and always wanted the 1000R. I bought my 1000R in 1998 and will never sell it! It is in great condition with about 8300 miles on it. This forum got my bike going again after 2+ years, it was the regulator. Thanks again.

Awesome. I wanted an R since I was in high school in 1986. As I got older and could finally afford one after the house, kids, and other priorities, they were extremely hard to find. My '86 750 came first, then I found the '86 500 and I just acquired the R about 4 years ago now. I spent about 2.5 years restoring it. It was already in extremely good shape, so it didn't really take much effort. Right now, I've got 3900 miles on it. To round out the stable, I also bought a new '07 800 (RWB). Now if we start talking about dirt bikes, between me and the 3 kids, we now own 5. I'm running out of room .................
