    Hello

I'm working first on left tube to replace seals: leg off bike; circlip is out; damper, spring etc also out.

Problem is that the chrome slider will not come out manual says "pull apart several times as lower bearing is larger than upper and will knock it out with old seal".

Have tried moderate heat on fork casing; leaving it soaked in Plus Gas; still wont budge.

Have also attempted to take seal out with slider in - have removed top half of seal (rubber and spring) - looking down on remaining seal its casing appears metal and the lower part of the seal still seals on tube enough to hold the Plus Gas. Replacement seal is standard all rubber with upper and lower springs.

Any expert help / tips appreciated, cos I am well and truly stumped!

    Thanks

    Charlie (UK)

As long as the bottom bolt has been removed, it should come apart.......eventually. Slide-hammer action brings things out slowly a mm at a time until done.

Use caution with new seal as it's easy to mistakenly install it upside-down or damage it while pressing it into place.

Mount the fork leg back in the triple tree and use the bike as a vise to hold the tube while you put the slide hammer action on the slider.

Or drill a large hole in a block of aluminum the same diameter as the fork tube, then use a saw to slit the block. Mount the block in a vise and insert tube, then tighten vise to pinch the block and hold the tube without damage. Then proceed with slide hammer action on the slider.

To me it looks lie you have not removed the internal circlip holding the oil seal. Is the circlip you mentioned the external one on top of the tube?
