Just got home from work at midnight and saw this for sale on craigslist. seems kind of pricey for what it is - not that im fully considering getting it - but if it was a little cheaper I might just to have it. Any thoughts on the situation? i couldnt believe I actually saw this for sale on the big island of Hawaii.

I'm surprised it looks as good as it does being on the big island. Hardly any really obvious corrosion. No dents in tank, no cheesy mufflers. A quick search on searchtempest show a few around, some more, some less. That 1400 may be a good point to start talking down. If you get it, I have just the seat that you want -cheap.

Would you say this is a decent bike to learn how to work on? Ive been looking for a second bike for just that reason...wasnt really planning on spending a thousand dollars on it though lol. Not something I want to ruin...or have trouble finding a part for. It is nice that this one runs though!

If it is already nice, and runs well then it shouldn't be terribly hard to tinker with it and keep it up to snuff. You'll definitely learn how to maintain a valve-train if you want to keep it running right, that's for sure. As a second bike, these things are great. Due to the age there is enough to tinker with as things wear out, but they are enjoyable to ride and get plenty of compliments if they are clean. Parts can be a mixed bag -body work is hard to come by, as are some mechanical pieces, but ebay can fill in some gaps. If the motor pops you are SOL unless you want to give Matson your $$$ to boat one from California.
