Hey all, I have a 85 vfr 750 here in Ottawa Canada that I had bought from a family friend a few years back. The initial plan was to fix it up and get it on the road but have been delayed getting it going, Since then I have married and we are now expectig our first. Plans have changed, the new plan was to get the bike up and running and sell it..... the plan did not include me cracking the edge of the block. Looking for advice?
    Sell bike as Parts
Find a way to repair exisiting engine as it only has 14000mi o it
find a transplant engine and cotinue to try to sell it.(Can a later engine work as a transplant)
Im a little lost and looking for advice.
    Thanks,
    Will

It looks bad but I wouldnt give up on the repair idea- like you say it only has 14k on it + it has been oil modded so its going to be worth more if this can be sorted. I know here in NZ I wouldnt bother taking it to the local dealer as they wouldnt think too far out of the square, but I know of 2 local engineering companies that have employees that eat, breath and live for bikes and I would be fairly confident they would come up with a solution. There are a lot of products out there for these sorts of problems.

Its not like its gotta hold a main bearing or anything, just needs to be strong enough to seal the gasket and not be stripped or loose.

    Good Luck!!:mechanic:

Break the pieces off and have it welded or use alum epoxy, may be JB weld, to build it backup. Then drill and tap or heli coil. It's not holding that much pressure or anything.

That doesn't look too bad to me. A simple Heli-coil fix should have you up and running without too much fuss. Good luck!

I would run with Grey's idea and epoxy it.
