I replaced the RR, added VFRness, new stator wires three weeks ago and thought i solved all possible electrical problems. I rode about 50 miles tonight and the high beam headights do not work. The ow beams appear normal. The voltage while running is 14.9V regardless of rpm. any ideas?

Happens to my bike once in a while, it is in the switch. I just flick it in anger a few times and it is fine. Never happens on the gen 2 but the later model switch would apprear to have a problem with road/rain grime getting in there. My two pennies.

My 1998 does it sometimes too..I honestly dont ever use the high beams, but one night just to test it out I flicked them on and the lights went out...Flipped it back and the normal light came back on...Did it again and there were high beams! I do it sometimes just to see what will happen and the high beam comes on for the most part but sometimes it just goes dark. Something i dont really care about cause like I said I dont require a highbeam...even when I drive my jeep i dont ever use it.

Put some dielectric grease in it to prevent corrosion and moisture damage.

That for the input on this issue. i took the switch apart and it seems to be working properly. the high beams still don't work. I checked the headlight fuse and its fine. The blue high beam indicator works, but when i switch from low to high none of the headlights work? any other ideas?

The Blue wire with a Black stripe in my pic is the "supply power" wire from your high beam relay.
The Yellow arrow points to the section of that wire that leads up to the Blue high beam indicator light in your dash.
The Red arrow points to the section of that wire that leads to the bulb sockets for the high beam wire filaments in those two bulbs.

If the Blue high beam indicator light in your dash lights up when you flip the light switch to the high beam position then that means your high beam relay is working properly.

The Blue arrow in my pic points to a wire junction in that Blue wire with a Black stripe.

Either you're not getting power from the point of that wire junction on out to the bulb sockets on that section of wire,or the high beam wire filaments in both of your headlight bulbs have simply burned out,or the little metal pin spades on the underside of both your headlight bulbs for the high beam wire filaments are corroded and are not making good contact with the wire terminals inside the bulb sockets.

Thanks for all the replies. I just got around to checking out the headlight issue and found that one filament on each bulb was fried. Apparently I blew them while i was installing the RR. Replaced with H4 bulbs and all issues appear resolved. Hopefully this will VFRness and RR replacement will solve all my electrical issues. Voltage 14.9- 15 V DC.
