Just acquired an "abandoned" 1986 VF500... now I know why it was left for dead

    "I must have had a lemon." his own words... he had one that was treated like a red headed prostitute when the Navy has shore leave...... I would say the number of problems the bike had it was a POS before he got it.. and it went downhill from there......

    AND BTW HOP.... I love your 1000 that is one of the sweetest looking ones that I have ever seen..... when does the next project start?

    Head to head and pound for pound, the VFR is a better bike but let's all agree that those who have a 1st gen may be madly in love with them and so deserve the right to ask a tech question without a stinging comment about their sanity or judgement. We're all adults here(or most anyway) so if we can't conduct ourselves as such then maybe the Mods can split the forum and let the 1st gens have their own.

    Crusty, I wasn't necessarily speaking about you and the R project soldiers on, working on a new seat, new triples, carb sync, homemade exhaust sniffer, and carbon duct for the upper radiator.
