New guy looking for help

Hey everyone.
I just picked up an 85 Interceptor 700,traded my 74 Sportster for it,I hope I didn't make a mistake. I've wanted one of these since I was 15,anyway the bike is in good shape overall,it starts and runs without issue but when I twist the throttle it stalls and won't idle with the choke off. Like I said,I'm a Harley guy so if you all could point me in a starting direction I would appreciate it.

Pilot jets are clogged up, clean the carbs and all is good most times.

Rule no 1: Do not, under any curcumstances, remove the carbs from the aluminum airbox plenum!!! You risk losing small pieces that will fly off to the darkest recesses of the garage, and damaging irreplaceable fragile plastic parts. You've been warned.

Welcome. You will need to sell the harley soon as you get the VFR rinning. It is just going to collect dust and turn to rst anyways from lack of use.

 

Welcome +1 on clean cab. Might well change the plugs and fuel filter

Thanks for the responses everyone. I will get pics up as soon as I can. These things are foreign to me,I've been staring at it for 2 days trying to figure out where the hell the air filter is. I'll keep you up to date on my progress.

im sorry but i just have to point this out. the irony of him getting off the sportster and an the vfr is awesome. but what makes it even better is the add that is popped on his post.
