Please post. Have one that I will be working on... guarantee it will be pedestrian compared to what you conjure up. Love your work.

Of course i'm a HUGE VTR 250 devotee, partly because i can't get in as much legal trouble as on the VFR !

If i may comment, the tail on that Kawi is way out of proportion and needs downsizing.

Thanks alot guys! So I want to build a 250cc race bike, not like a production race bike but more like a 1988 nsr/ rs 250 only if Honda had taken it's nr (4 stroke 500 gp racers) program to the 250 class, let's call it a nrs 250. The closest thing we had to a nsr/rs frame here was the hawk gt, so I took the frame lost the single sided swing arm ( blaspheme I know) put in a vfr 700 unit (closest I could find to early rs 250) I will weld on a new sub frame, use a modified hurricane front end and wheels, the vtr 250 motor, modified ducati tank and 1988 rs 250 body work. Already got slot of part from the salvage yard. Here's some pics
    The frame

Putting a smallish motor into a larger chassis doesn't make sense 2 me, and ditching the SSSA don't either. Correct me if i'm wrong (again), but the Hawk frame may weigh more than the VTR's. A Hawk, just slightly improved, makes a far better race bike (National championships) than an VTR250, although the 250's were winners in West coast AFM series......years ago.

Jesse James, OCC, Roland Sands, Cafe Racer, Arlen Ness have all ruined the integrity of countless decent streetbikes in the less-capable hands of amateurs in persuit of adulation and industry cred, but making a Hawk from Hawk parts is a valuable too. One good Hawk is worth about 2.4 VTRs, imo, and either one is such a fantastic streetbike it wouldn't make sense to scrap or disable one in any attempt to impose your own artistry upon metal alloys. In many ways the VTR250 and the Hawk are family brothers, the smaller one still just a teenageer.

At about 27 hp, the little VTR motor can't pull much extra weight, including fancy suspensions that really are over the top on a small bike with limited power. Forks from a 600 won't help a 250 much cuz the corner speed isn't there in the engine.

I partially understand the racer mentality that builds this fine stuff,
but there needs to be room for practicality. If it doesn't work as a racebike it's just a museum piece. If any of your geometry is off, you might find your race bike won't handle.

There was a lot there! I am not sold there is any extra weight, I bet that the hawk frame and minimal rear subframe and swing arm will weigh Alot less than the vtr frame, we will see when I strip it, I am not a bike builder, nor do I seek any acclaim I just want to build things I think are cool. Across the pond they have tons of small cc bikes both 2 and 4 strokes with aluminum frames trick suspension, I just want something like that and dont want to pay tons for a aprillia rs 125, not mention 10s of thousands on a nsr or rs 25

Proceed as you think wise and hold true to your vision no matter how presbyoptic.

Let's face it, the real 250 racing is still 2-strokes !!

You can have easy fun without much competition "racing" with little Ninjas in an under-subscribed race class, Laddie, but the real racing is on 600s and larger where standards and speeds are higher. 9d79.jpg

Small diameter vaccum line runs from brass fitting on front carb to petcock, while larger line is for fuel. One fitting on petcock is open to atmosphere.
