Givi Tanklock Tankbag fit 1997 VFR?

I'm seeking to purchase a new tank bag for my 97. Givi lists a few different models that mount on the gas cap ring. They list adaptor rings for newer VFR models, but not my old warhorse. Anyone know if they fit, or if the tank cap mounting ring on the 97 is the same as newer models?

 

I had a similar question with my 95 Ducati 900 SS so I took a piece of paper and traced the gas cap circumference and bolt pattern and compared that to another Ducati that was listed and found the circumference and bolt pattern to be identical. You'll probably find that yours is the same as another model if not the latest VFR. if I get a chance later I can measure mine and post it for you.

Thanks for a good suggestion. Plus I now have an excuse to visit my local Honda dealer.

It was interesting that all the Hondas listed in the Givi application chart used the same adaptor.

Not to keep you from going to the dealer but just for the sake of others too, here is the Givi Ring mounted on my 2009 VFR800. I used a "classroom" ruler to take the measurements but it should be close enough.

Free bump - did you find out if the later model tanklock fits? I'm looking to do the same thing right now while I search for pannier racks for the 97 VFR.

 

Once you have the mounting ring on the tank, any of the Tanklock bags should be interchangeable. I also have the T480 tank bag (14L-22L) and it fits my bike as well. It also has an adjustable ring location so that you can move the bag forward and rearward to suit your riding position. I believe that I had posted pictures of this bag a while back.
