i have been looking for quite a while and i finally found one. i paid too much but it was there so i got it. i found it at a slavage yard in a town about 30-40 miles away. i never post so i figured id share a few pics. sorry its not with it mounted. those will be soon to come. i'm about 90 % certain it (and my current front wheel) will wind up bleach white ( and yes i know they will be a bitch to clean). i am doing a new set of wheel bearings and a new set of pilot powers as well... cant wait!!!

Nice find. These do go for big $$. White is the right color. It is NOT that big of a deal keeping them clean.

i might mention that the guy talked like he had more. they are a HUGE salvage yard. he said he sells about 5-10 a year to the "custom" guys. i assume that meant the street fighter crowd. i did like it when i had to argue with him that his offer to put in new wheel bearings for me was worthless. he said " i dont know, i know my vfrs pretty good". we settled it when the wheel came...

no, he didnt seem too happy. i think it actually hurt me just a little because he would not negotiate with me. he seemed like one of those guys who is NEVER wrong. (in his own mind)

Most large salvage yards are connected via an online parts network so they are able to see what parts other salvage yards have in stock. When they say they have a part sometimes it means that they have access to the part which is located somewhere else and they can have it shipped to them. Out of curiousity how much did the 8 spoker cost you?

and this place was wierd how they handled it...

i called down and this was the conversation

me: hey i am going to come down from out of town to check out that wheel can you check to make sure its in stock?
him: not really, not unless you pay now
me: you want me to pay for a part you dont even know if you have?!?
him: ya thats the only way we can check, i cant just go looking for parts for people whenever they want something. i have a stack of tickets to be pulled. your best bet is to just come down.
me: so you want me to drive 30 miles one way so you can check to see if you have it?!?!
him: ya thats the only way well check unless you want me to run your credit card over the phone now
me: so how long will it take while i'm standing there?
him: if youre here i'll send a guy out to check
me: ok i guess i'll drive down then...

and he said talked as if they had more there... even though with mine the bike had to be un buried and then the wheel removed from the bike. it took about half an hour. he purposely buys bikes that have desireable parts and then sells them for premium prices. i have heard nothing but terrible stories about this place and they were all true. but when he has what i want, what is a guy to do? it's done now. i just have to enjoy my purchase and move on with life

wow that is really nice..Im sorry you had to deal with that a*hole though. I really hate dealing with guys like that - I believe in honest and hard work - and asking a guy to run a credit card over the phone just to check for a part is a really dick move. Just like a pawn shop when you ask to see something - they reply "are you going to buy it"...FUCK! Yea maybe! if I can check it out and its what I want!
