I guess the title is fairly self explanatory. I have a modified CBR shock which has been re-valved and re-sprung by Mr.Dougherty, and would like to see any pictures of how any of you that have made the same modification have handled it. One arrangement I have in mind would necessitate loosening the banjo fitting on the line and rotating it, but then I would lose the charge of nitrogen in it. How big of a pain is it to recharge, and how do you do this? I don't recall seeing a schrader valve on it.

Thank you for your suggestions in advance,

    Rick

No bites? Does this mean everyone doing this mod just leaves their reservoir flapping about under the plastic?

You will need to use a heat gun to soften the plastic coolant overflow reservoir and depress it to make room for the shock fitting and hose. BE CAREFUL!!! Take your time and don't overheat the plastic, as it will melt pretty easily. On the other hand, you have to heat it enough so that the plastic won't crack when you depress it to make space for the fitting and hose. It is a bit of a PITA . . .

Alternatively, I think Daugherty will rotate the hose fitting on your shock - for a fee . . .

Thank you for the rely and the picture. I have already decided that no matter which way I go I have to reroute the hose, so I've discharged the reservoir and disconnected the hose. The way it was left no options for mounting. On my '87 I'm thinking of replacing the factory overflow tank with something made from a large diameter stainless or aluminum tube/pipe mounted just above the rear shock, which would allow me much more flexibility in mounting the reservoir. I will at this point have to have a schrader valve fitted to the bottom of the reservoir so it could be recharged. A local shop I talked to asked how Jamie was able to recharge it WITHOUT adding a valve...I'm also not clear on whether or not I need to 'bleed' the shock. I saw a procedure on how to do another brand of shock and it involved having it mounted upside down in a vice without a spring on it...or the piston assembly in it. I can't believe this would have to be the case for this shock, as there was already air in the system to begin with.
