Awesome build! Haven't had time to read the whole thing yet, but the results speak for themselves.

Gotta ask this now that i have looked over the pics..How difficult was it to fit the RC45 tail to the bike? I know the 1000 chassis is similar to the VF700/750 Chassis so it shouldn't be difficult to fit it to the 750. From the looks of it it may require a couple tabs added to the chassis to bolt it to and some reshaping around where it meets the tank correct?

My shock started to leak some oil after my last pot hole diving ride so I thought I'd give a rebuild a go. The spring was a big eyesore with paint chipping plus the grey color was uninspiring at best. I stripped it down to bare metal, gave it some flash time in the oven and hit it with a healthy coat of bright red powder. I thought a spring would be tough to do, trying to get all the surfaces but it came out really nice.

    Stock coating failing.

Fresh from the oven. Bright and shiny and tough as nails.

My shock is now rebuilt for the most part and just got it recharged at Factory Connections. It's back on the bike but I haven't had a test ride yet. Judging by the oil color and the leak, I should notice a difference.

I found a bump stop at the place that filled my shock. I cut and used the small, bottom 1/3. It was a great match for what was there. The stock one crumbled in my hand.

Just about to install the new triples and forgot to take a pic. My variation of Seb's CB900 ones. They have a 45mm offset and the upper openings are 54mm to take my custom riser inserts. The R's offset is 50 and the CBR's that I was running are 30. The 30 is just too small for the early VF. Steering radius was horrible. This should bring things back closer to acceptable. I still need to work out the steering stop situation. The previous stop was the frame!

Thanks Bud. These were actually cut with a FloJet and needed some attention to make them smooth. I just cut the taper on the top plate. It was kind of blocky with out it. I have since gone over them with some scotch brite to give them more of a satin finish. The polished
was a little too shiny for a race bike. I've got them on now and will install the forks when the rocker panel repair is done on the wife's Explorer.

Nice work! The thing you did with the front end reminds me of something Beemer people that raced back in the boxer days did, they used the bottom triple as the top yoke just like you did with the RC51 front end.

The added bonus they got was a polished piece of trick looking aluminum. Nice work...

Here's a pic of the triples installed. Still have to button things down but you get the idea. Added a metal Honda logo for kicks.

Also reworked my VF/CBR tank vent. The old one was venting under the fill and I didn't like it, it weeped some fuel on to the neck which sat there and ate the paint. This one should be good to go.

I stumbled upon this thread about a month ago, and since then have gone thru it in it's entirety at least three times. I am absolutely blown away with the workmanship of this bike. And the fact that you've owned it since day one makes it even more special. My hat is off to you sir. Thanks so much for being such an inspiration for the rest of us "Gen One-ers."

Kind words Pops. We definitely have had a long relationship together, mostly fantastic with only a few squabbles... followed by great "make up" riding.
