I've enjoyed martial arts of one form or another since I was about 7. I also like to play paintball.

I would take you up on that dare, Porkchop. To me a sport is about increased physical ability and high levels of exertion. Bowling, golf, shooting, shuffleboard, and parcheesi are all games. Granted it takes A LOT of practice to really be good at them, but none of those increase aerobic conditioning or markedly increase strength.

Mind you that I love to go shooting, like to play golf and dance in a Mexican folklorico group. The dancing is VERY good exercise, but I wouldn't consider it a sport either.

Now martial arts in various forms and a full day of paintball. That WILL wear you out, leave you sore, increase conditioning and strenght, as well as risk injury through exertion or "outside inputs". I kind of use those as standards for activities I would consider a "sport".

“Hemingway said there only three real sports are auto racing, mountain climbing and bull fighting. The rest are just games".

It takestwo real brass balls to do those things. With games you only need one ball! :ass:

A bit of cycling, running, swimming (I'm a non-practising triathlete) Played water polo and rugby in high school (had to). As regards watching, I don't really follow anything but will watch just about anything.

GreyVF750F Hemingway clearly didn't know about mixed martial arts or cage fighting, any activity that puts u in a cage/ring against another human being to test each other to the limit is def a sport in my book. and i agree that racing is a sport it takes a lot of skills, but nascar racing isn't the whole race is a damn left turn i mean come on add some sharp turns, n hairpins make it more exciting.

Never mentioned NASBORE. Yea your right about martial arts fighting.

Here is my daughters boy friend Alex. This takes MORE than just balls!

You can do a google on him and see what else he has done. Taught my daughter how to climb, with ropes though. The kid is really something else and the most laid back.

+1 for the WCHA! (college hockey)

SCSU. We had a good couple of seasons like four years ago... Never amounted to any thing in the NCAA's though.

I want to keep the trophy in the WCHA, but not by the Goofers.

I follow the NHL when I can, pull for the Wild when they aren't punching them selves in the balls, and root against De-troilet, Boston, and the Canucks.

If you're talking participating, I like hockey, raquetball, volleyball, MMA & Muy Thai. I actually competed in Muy Thai for about 18 months when I was stationed in Germany in the 90's.

Unfortunately for me, anytime I attempt ANY sport, I usually end up in the emergency room, then a doctor's office & eventually physical therapy. So, no more contact sports for the FE.

Since contact sports are out for me, I am taking a page out of my own book & I bought a bicycle today. I rode competively in HS & probably put about 25K-35K miles on bicycles in my teen years.
Same as this except mine is black with yellow instead of red.

If you're talking spectating, my favorite is MMA & hockey. I've been watching hockey since grade school & watching th UFC since UFC #1.

    KC-10 FE out...

Snowmobiling. When you live in central WI, you have to have both summer and winter toys. Actually I like winter more than summer. But at least I have a bike as awesome as the VFR to keep me happy between seasons.

Mountain climbing is really not to be attempted by the "big boys".

6' 2" tall and 175 lbs? You are MADE for climbing.

6' and 250 lbs? As Quentin Jackson would say, you are made to "whoop ass". :boxing2:

I'm surprised! Nobody here races? Unless I missed it I would have thought a motorcycle forum would at least have a few people who throw money at the track. I can't afford track crack :frown:

I played basketball for many many years. 2 years for Naval District Wash. D.C. Broke my left ankle twice in one season about 11 years ago. I have sprained it almost 20 times since then. Stopped playing about 2 years ago and took up weight lifting while deployed. Got up to 245lbs. of lean anger and had to buy a lot of new clothes.

I got reconstructive surgery 3 weeks ago on the bad ankle and you would be amazed at how much mass you lose when sitting on your ass cause your so limited with drugs and crutches. This shit sucks and on top of it all, I'll have to work my ass off to get all the mass back that I'm losing now. Anyway, yeah maybe I'll be able to play a little basketball again but I'll probably stick to the weight room.

I play basketball too or used to play (for fun). I tore some ligaments in my ankle over 5 months ago, lost about 10 lbs, still limping, doing rehab... Ankle injuries suck...

I have gotten Lazier as I have aged. :flex: & since you think motorsports isn't a sport. I don't do anything physical. ( OP needs to try motocross, Dirt-track auto racing, & road racing. )

I forgot to mention. As far as being a spectator, women's beach volleyball has to be the greatest sport ever conceived. It is the only sport other than cycle racing that will always...always warrant stopping the channel flipping for me.
