buying my first VFR, what should I look for???

Hello Everyone,

I'm thinking about buying a 2004 VFR with 24,000 KM on it. I'm just wondering if anyone can give me some pointers on what I should be looking for, or any red flags that may exist. I understand that the valves need to be checked at 16,000 and 32,000 KM so I'm hoping this has already been done by the previous owner.

Any other tips to help me make a decision would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't worry too much about the valves. Lots of people skip the first valve check since they are usually in spec and the procedure is very costly at a dealership. Check the VIN number with a dealership to see if the bike was affected by a factory recall that was issued for some of the electrical components on some bikes made between 2002 and 2005. Other than that these bikes are solid and dependable and should last a long time with normal maintenance.
