    Howdy partners,

I picked up 2003 VFR ABS, w/ sidebads with just under 10k. I am a new proud owner.
I am a fairly new rider with just 3k miles of experience. My first bike- Buell Blast. It's an awesome commuter/beginner bike that consistently gets 60+mpg. It was 2005, blue with soft side bags. It was awesome for what it was, low maintenance torque and very tossable.
I was gonna buy a Buell Ulysses as I want to do more sport touring, 2 up sometimes so I was in need of a bigger bike. I could not justify spending a lot of money for my second bike, and came across this low mileage very well priced VFR.
    So here I am.
Question?? I may want to buy a upper bag so that to compliment my side bags... Can a passenger lean on it when riding?

    Al

Indeed! Welcome to the zoo. Should you decide to mount a 'top box' on the bike, you'll not have an issue with the passenger leaning on it. Nice looking ride!

Thanks for you reply. Btw, do you know what aftermarket windscreen helps wind protection. I see one MRA Vario for sale on the board for $80. Stock one let wind on to your helmet. I'm 5'11.

    One more thing:
I'm reading OM, and it says you can you use 86 unleaded gas? Do you guys run 87 without problems?

    Congrats and welcome aboard.

What octane gas to use gets debated around here almost as much as what oil and what tires to use.

But since you're asking, here's the bottom line. Honda Engineers probably know a little bit more about these bikes than most of us. If they say 86, than 86 is fine. Or 87.

Note that these bikes run notoriously hot. Putting higher octane in will contribute to that. yet I doubt you'll see any performance gains.

The only time you might want to consider a high-test octane is for winter storage. Even with a quality fuel stabilizer, it is possible for the gas to drop a couple of points in its octane rating. So 87 octane put in during November might be 85 come April. Put 91 or 93 in, along with stabilizer, and you should still be high 80's to low 90's come springtime.
